I keep trying to figure out a more comfortable camping setup. The roof top tent just doesn't do it for me. I need a hard walled camper with air conditioning so I can extend the camping season. I hate sleeping hot.

The latest thought is to buy one of these...



and put a used one of these in it.

What do the top camper parts usually run? 2K? I'm just trying to get a base estimate on a Camper RTT setup, and figured it would be under 4K after trailer, tent, goodies, and fab work.

Used slide in truck campers, ones that pop up, run from 3-10k. Still not settled on the idea. The hard side pop up tents are nice, but the no AC thing bites.

The other idea is to try to get one of these and strip it off it's trailer and put it on top of the military trailer.

 

Better you than me. I can't do the heat. I can camp in the cold no problem though.

 

If you want AC in your setup, put an ARB fridge up there with you and leave the door open.

 

Don't forget about the heat that the compressor puts off.

 

Is it because you're buying a newer truck so you won't have to deal with all the rust and stuck bolts?

 

Increase the coldness to compensate. Duh.

 

Exactly. Having to strike camp every time you want to drive the truck sucks.
