Hey TW, sorry I dont post much, pretty committed lurker, but have really enjoyed all the knowledge Ive picked up over the hundreds of posts Ive looked through.

That being said, sorry if this is a repost but I didnt find anything directly related. Cant say Im at all savy in anything electrically related with vehicles. In my 2012 prerunner I had the driver side front turn signal go out about a week ago, replaced the bulb, checked the fuse and relay (which didnt appear to be burnt out.) Still no turn signal. I then went on and replaced the fuse which did not help, and switched the relay with the relay from the fuel pump (since they are the same ones) for a minute just to see if it would work.

In some instances the signal would turn on while checking it, but a few miles down the road it would cut out again. Twice it was not working when I left the house, acted right once during the commute, and then cut out again.
Im at a loss for explanations, and havent found much online to help, not sure if Im just not wording it right to pull up results or what?

Any explanation or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for yalls time

Okay so the bulbs not burning out its just not signaling at all? Does it go into hyper blink like a bulb is out?

Correct DeeKay, its a hyper blink as if the bulb was just burnt out. Theres a brand new one in there now. Thanks for the links gear cruncher, I wont have a chance to check any of it out until tomorrow or Thursday but Ill let you know. Currently in the library working on a speech I have to give tomorrow for a Public Speaking class. No time like the present!

Why are you playing with something that can be under warranty?
If your under 3/36 you should be covered unless you run high milage or have been modding the crap out of the wiring.

No Deekay, as far as Im aware I put the exact same bulb in, had the guy at autozone look up the part to make sure it was the right one. Tacoma Mike, just a few miles shy of 37k. Going to try to bring it down to the dealer anyway this weekend and see what they have to say, Franklin Toyota (here in Statesboro by my college) tends to be pretty helpful, just have been busy with school. By habit I generally stay away from Toyota due to less than desirable experiences with the thieving scheming staff over at Toyota Mall of Georgia (closest to my parents house.)

    Ok I understand.
Still I would at least give them a shout and see what they say.
You never know, they may do something for you.
Sometimes it maybe a simple fix.
    I wish you luck...

What does the driver's rear blinker do? If it is normal than you have eliminated the switch, fuse, relay and the main ground. It could still be a localized ground though.

AeroCooper, the drivers rear turn signal still flashes, but its a "hyper flash", still have not been able to make time to pull things apart and look. Swung by Franklin Toyota today and the guy at the front desk had no interest in me even talking to a tech, because "there was no way to figure it out without pulling it in the garage." He was uninterested when I told him as a college student I dont have $95 to spend on a diag. fee for a blinker! Thanks for all yalls help so far, looking like it wont be until tomorrow or Saturday until I get to looking at it.

It sounds like the issue is a bad connection right at the front bulb somewhere. Either the wiring or the actual socket itself. Since you said it went on while you were replacing it, try wiggling things around up there to see if you can isolate where it is loose. Also check all nearby related connections. It seems odd that a 2012 would have this kind of issue.

You could also switch the bulb with the other front to see if it got fried somehow.

every once and awhile my right front blinker does the same thing, if I wiggle the wires right where they go though the boot, problem goes away...

my vote is bad local ground....there could be some corrosion on something...

pull apart and clean, prolly go away...

Im incredibly embarrassed to say it but it was just the bulb. When I replaced it the first time I heard it click and thought we were good to go. Apparently you have to shove it in there pretty tight. So pretty dumb move on my part, but Im glad it wasnt anything more complicated with electrical/wiring issues, as I was a little apprehensive to mess with it. Anyways thank all yall for your help, I really appreciate it.

I was about to suggest being sure the bulb seated. You have to push them in so hard I'm always afraid the glass will shatter and shred my fingers. I always use a rag or gloves...
