Mine's is pretty quick off the line, but on the highway you step on it and it just kind of makes a lot of noise and doesn't do nearly as much to show for it.

Sure, it's significantly faster than many things on the road, but it's nothing compared to my old Outback that pushed nearly 270 HP and weighed 600 lbs less.

My dash rattles like a baby with new rattle toy. Something on the passenger side. Have not really looked into it yet. Started when I put the e rated tires on!

I had 2 tpms batteries die recently.
Tell me this. Why are these things not made with a kinetic action to charge(like watches) a battery or Cmos as needed? I am to understand they have a sleep mode to allow them to last as long as they do but why not the resolve the battery issue altogether?

You have a manual t case?

Don't worry though, you still have the same ADD system as the rest of the Tacomas :D
    VVVV
X2, Rob can get you one at a good price. If you need a hard cover, BAK sells a really nice one. I have the BAK and really like it. I would avoid one with snaps, they suck when it's cold.
Obviously, because it would make way too much sense and they can't rape you when you have to go back for new batteries.

They still can rape the dough in when they fail to corrosion, rim damage, stem failure, and other damage in general. I don't know. Leaves me shaking my head for some reason. Seems like they are already moving in that direction with other components less likely to fail... Such as LEDs

My Subaru would put the sensors to sleep when the wheels weren't spinning. You had to be moving 20 MPH before they would wake up. I don't think this helped much because it was a 2008 and had sensors starting to get weak. I'm not sure how Toyotas work since the pressurized canister trick works. On Subarus this wasn't an option since the sensors wouldn't be rotating.

The charging idea is great. I think most TPMS is an afterthought to meet a government mandate, so manufacturers put as little effort/expense as possible into it. That's probably why nothing like this exists.

Side note: On the Subaru it was impossible to replace the battery. The entire sensor needed to be replaced. Insanity.

I am waiting to see how annoyed I get by the flashing light at startup.

My dash doesn't rattle. I've had to fix a bed rattle though. Right now my weather stripping is making a noise like a rattle. Sounds like it's rubbing and squeaking over every little bump. The A/C in my 90 Lumina was probably the coldest A/C I've had. Still had the old R12 stuff in it.

Hey Paul welcome to the group and good luck when you get the new truck. Do you know what kind of cover you want? There are many choices from hard cap to soft cap, hard tonneau to soft tonneau and some that fold up in sections.

My bed rattle is the shit I carry. I had spoken with Cam about making a couple holders like his for my hi lift. I also carry a metal shovel and a fold up camp chair. All three are wedged in but really need to be secured

    Couple reasons, really.
The motion of a tire is a spinning one. There's no "back & forth" that works a weight to wind a clockspring like in a wristwatch, or slides a magnet like in one of those "rapid masturbation self-charging flashlights. All of the force would be directed outward. The only thing that changes is how much force is being exerted (based on how fast you're going and how fast the tire is spinning) unless you hit a bump.
Also, the size of the sensor itself would have to increase, which would make it much more difficult to mount a tire without damaging the sensor itself. This might also increase weight, which would make it more difficult to properly balance the tire/wheel for your vehicle.
A third obstacle would be reliability; the more moving parts the more likely a failure. Plus, corrosion would still be an obstacle, and if you think a zero-moving-parts transmitter with a battery is expensive, just imagine what a self-powered unit would cost to replace when it eventually failed.

It should be noted that I'm not an engineer, and this is just opinion. There's probably a way that it could be made to work properly, but I'm sure the cost would be astronomical for relatively little reward since the system in place now works well enough to meet gov't standards. :notsure:

Also, HAPPY HUMP DAY, MIKE!! :D

I carry a heavy duty plastic bin with all my stuff wedged into it and it's strapped in. It has my towing stuff, recovery shackle, tow chain, briefcase tool kit, jumper cables and a military shovel. No rattles from tools :)

My truck had very few rattles. Mainly from the hi jack strapped into my bed, and the metal shovel wedged between the cab and plastic bin.

More noticeable on mine is the road/wind noise. I really need to do some sound deadening in the cab
