    Ummmm yeah? I live in Upstate NY. The sand/salt capital of the world!
    They throw the sand down to sand blast any protective coating of everything then they put the salt down to eat away at the unprotected parts! I think the automotive industry reimburses local towns and villages for excessive sand/salt use
