Kaya and her playmate daisy. The other dog, dude is his name (not pictured), tried to mount Kaya and she then flipped him on his back, snarled in his face and dude didn't bother Kaya the rest of the day. Glad to see she can take care of herself.





Picked Kaya up in a rescue shelter a little over three months ago, and my life has changed for the better. There's no place I go that I don't bring her. She's quite the character, incredibly loving, caring and strong willed to boot. She survived parvo, which she got in the pound her and her litter mates were kept in in Alabama before being brought to NYC which is where I drove 5 hours to go get her. (Long story)

No idea what she has in her though! She loves digging, runs crazy fast, is super lazy, and is only 35 pounds... 7 months old. Guesses anyone?

Yes it is a Weim! It's my parents, and they have 2 others as well.

 

Holy shit !! 3 Weimys !! Your folks have patience haha, weims are great dogs I had my girl Lexy for 13 years , she's been gone now for about 5 years & I still have a hole in my heart.. Smartest dog I've ever had

 

Haha, yes they can be a handful. My parents have worked with Weimaraner Rescue of Texas for sometime now, and have fostered and adopted many dogs along the way. At one point I think there were 7 or so in the house. They have a doggie door out to fenced 5 acres and do as they please throughout the day, so that helps tremendously.

Well it's been a bit since I posted a photo of Ash . He is 7 1/2 months old now (where does the time go!?). He is very much able and extremely willing to do longer hikes now. We did about 6 miles total on this trip and he loved bouncing from one pile of snow to the other and then running to get a dip in one of the many mountain lakes we passed. I couldn't be more pleased with him at this time. He sits and waits no matter the distance if I command him to. He is also very alert and lets me know via body language when someone is coming on the trail or if there is a massive porcupine right around the corner.
