I have a 2001 Tacoma 6V 4WD Xtra Cab and I am looking to replace both my chrome bumper and one of the brackets its attached to that became damaged a few years ago after accidentally backing into a tree. I can't seem to identify the part number of this bracket so I am hoping someone can help me.

Photos below but essentially I am trying to identify the passenger side bracket that attaches the back of the bumper to the main part of the frame. I also noticed it has a few screws that appear welded on. Will this bracket require any special tools to remove it besides a properly sized ratchet set?

the only thing welded on are some nuts that the bolts go into for holding the bracket on.

The new brackets will come with the same welded nuts on them.

Don't know the part number, but I did replace those brackets recently when mine rusted through and the bumper fell off (unfortunately while I was towing a trailer). I didn't have to shop for them, though. I was about a mile from a buddy's body shop when it happened, and he found a pair buried behind his shop that he had bought for a job years earlier and then never used.

Ok then you have confirmed they are welded. Then in order to remove the bracket from the bumper and vehicle frame how will I remove these welded on nuts? Will it be a challenge?

Were you towing a trailer by your bumper! Hope is it didn't detach from your vehicle will you were in motion. I would feel sorry for anyone behind your trailer.

I am glad you had a friend who had this part around, lucky you. I am looking to replace this part with a brand new OEM bracket so I want to make sure I get that detail right. I believe its also possible the bracket might differ on a 4WD vs 2WD models.

OP, have you asked the dealer's parts department? They should be able to pull up the parts diagram and find it. Even if you have a different source where you can get better prices, you can still go ask them for a quote, just to get the correct part number, then either order it there or go order from somewhere else.
    Good luck.

I have done some research and believe the part I am referring to is Toyota part 22835955

No, you don't need to remove the nuts. There will be new nuts welded to the new brackets. You don't need to reuse them. Just save the bolts, and any nuts that aren't welded. I seem to recall that some of the bolts were welded and some weren't. It will all be self explanatory when you start taking them off. You will probably want some liquid wrench and an impact gun to get them loose - I know I needed both.

Yes, I was towing a trailer when my bumper came off. Luckily one of the brackets didn't quite break all the way through, so I was able to stop without the trailer slinging off the road. I was on a back road, so nobody was really at risk. The trailer belonged to another friend of mine's dad. Glad I didn't have to buy him a new trailer.

As for the brackets being different between 2 and 4 wheel drive, they won't be any different.

you don't remove those nuts, from the other side you unscrew the bolts that go through those nuts and then the bracket is free to just come off.
