I have no idea about aftermarket brakes for Tacomas. Us 1st Genners just do the Tundra brake mod, which is next on my list.

I've always shied away from drilled and slotted rotors for off-roading, the concern being build up of mud and dirt in the holes and slots. Maybe someone with firsthand use can chime in.

For those that have been following the S/C work, I finally found a vacuum "leak". I was supposed to plug a vacuum port that is on the S/C body but tucked up behind the throttle body. Hopefully once I clear the P0171 that keeps popping up, it'll stay gone. Also wondering if some of the throttle wonkiness will smooth out as well...

Originally, I was considering a snorkel and needed a stock airbox to do so. After seeing the inside of the plenum, decided to switch over sooner and see how it performs. The inside of the plenum was gunky (pictures to come). Might just be oil coming off the PCV but need to figure out if the aFe filter wasn't doing its job and see how the stock box performs if it isn't.

That's what you paid all that money for!!! haha. Well at least some of it for sure. Get a catch can so you can remove the PCV, that should help eliminate that issue. I know there is some back and forth on the benifits of one, but they seem like a cheap way to answer a question. Plus you get a cool aluminum (anodized bright red maybe) can in the engine bay which should be good for another 20 hp, haha!

Anyone have experience or know how tough it is to replace the starter in an 03, 3.4 Tacoma?
Im pretty sure mine just died. Battery and cables are less than a year old and im just getting clicking when I try to start it. Jumping it didn't help any.

it is fairly easy. Go in through the wheel well, taking off the engine aprons. 2 mounting bolts, the battery cable attachment and the solenoid clip harness.

Clicking is usually a sign it isn't getting enough voltage. Autozone or the like should be able to test it for you.

hmm alright. ill see if I can get to it. its over at the girlfriends house on the street. all the searching I've done to replace it are for the 4 cyl models and 4 runners. not sure how the taco will be.
Tomtom do you think you could look at it one of these days this week if you have time?

I hear the ATs can be a little harder than the MTs with getting it physically out of the space but only have experience with the MTs.

Not sure when I can look at it. Maybe tomorrow night, depending on how I'm feeling. Not sure what I can do. If you get it pulled, Autozone should be able to test it. I can put a voltmeter on it to see if it is getting proper voltage while it is installed.
