Yeah, everyone hold your horses cause there is talk between the wife and I of me just getting a double cab, I'm trying to make an excuse to transfer ALL of the goodies I have on my truck to a double cab but that's only if I can find one with insanely low miles.... most likely will be ending up selling my rig & bumper to finance a DCLB 2nd Gen.

:( for the 1st Gen.... :) for you possibly getting your prized Elite, and :D for the wife wanting me to spend mucho $$$ on another Tacoma regardless of 1st or 2nd gen

So, I really need to stop slacking so much on maintenance. It's getting ridiculous... Haha

Nothing is at the point of failure, but I want to get all of the following accomplished:

    - LBJ's
    - Wheel bearings
    - Carrier Bearing
    - U-joints
    - Pulleys
    - Belts
    - Radiator flush
    - Trans flush
    - Fuel filter
    - Fuel pump/sender
    - CV's
    - CV bushings
    - Diff flush

I was dumb and spent all of my money on the bike instead of using it as a second vehicle so I could work on the truck or have a shop do some things for me while it was warm enough to ride.

So now I'm thinking about trying to get as much of it done myself as time/weather permits. I'm also thinking about leaving it at a shop from March-February while I'm out of town and not spending much money at all on anything so they can finish whatever I didn't accomplish....

I gotta do all of that except the belts and transmission/diff flush. I really want to do the fuel filter and carrier bearing but just haven't had the motivation to do it.

Belts haven't been replaced in the 20,000 miles that I've owned the truck. Since one of my pulleys chirp in the cold weather I figured I would replace all of them anyways.

As for the fluid flush, it's the same deal. Hasn't been done at all during ownership, so it would probably be a good idea to to that...

I'm the same way. Heck, I've had all the parts for the LBJ's, carrier bearing, and wheel bearings for 4 months now...

I figure I can do at least the fuel filter, pulleys, and belts on a warm day. As for the rest, we'll have to see....

After thinking it over, I may just get my whole drive shaft replaced with a Tom Woods replacement.

My reasoning for that, is because my current drive shaft is beat up, the zerk for the rear half of the drive shaft has been sheared off, and I need to replace the u-joints anyways....

We'll see how much they run, also asked what the cost of a 1-piece was out of curiosity...

Curious what price they give you

I wouldn't suggest a one piece driveshaft if your gonna get into heavy wheeling. My reasoning behind that is that it sits lower than a 2 piece. Your more likely gonna beat a one piece up than a 2 piece. But if your not gonna wheel it heavy no worries then.

Yeah, I've read anywhere from $300-$600.... So we'll see. Cheaper than buying OEM that's for sure. At least $900.

My thoughts exactly on the 2-piece. It would be nice to get rid of the carrier bearing and the cardan-joint, but if I beat up my oem one this bad, then a 1-piece is a terrible idea for me haha

Yep my driveshaft is destroyed right now I can't imagine how bad it would've been with a 1 piece

    Definitely.

I remember exactly when it happened too. Was trying to get a good angle on a ledge, heard a metal scrape, so I gave it some more gas. Made it up fine, but now I have a nice little design all around it complimented with a couple dents....
