Where do you get your ammo from? I'll have to check but I think I pay $35 for 50 rounds of 165gr. .40 Speer Gold Dot police ammo at Sec Equp.

Critical Defense is good stuff, but Speer has a good track record and you can't say no to that price!

Oh damn, they have the highest prices on ammo I have come across. I go there to look around, but I dont usually buy. They are good for used guns and reloading though.

My friend said they charge more cause they are so close to the range. They get all the guys who want to shoot a little bit more, or who just want to pick up ammo on the way to the range.

KGS has good prices on a lot of stuff too, but Daniel can be abrasive at times. I like him though, so never bother me either way lol

I picked up 5x 20rnd boxes of Federal 55gr .223 JHP defense ammo for $12 each!

    10rnd boxes of Fiocchi 00buck is $8 a box! That's a great price for 00, and they're clear :D

Young guns is cool, and one of my friends is good friends with a guy there. But their service is hit or miss. Mostimes they are more than happy to chat with you about what you are looking for all day, but every now and then you get the buy something or get out attitude. Prices are normal, nothing special. But they have some nice 1911's in stock! Nicer guns than most of the other stores have in stock. Ammo is a little higher than normal there, but they have a good selection.

I hear Remington and Kimber are good budget 1911's. They have been doing it long enough, and they have some capital to throw into figuring out how to manufacture them efficiently.

    No...

I got a handful of targets up in my attic... We should have a range day.. That would be a good group pic... Lol..

Screw you guys that live close to the range.lol... If I lived closer, I would probably have a bunch more guns and be poor cause of guns and not cause my truck...

Another good reason for my LB and my camper.. I can load my target stands and my cases and still go grab a bite to eat with them being fairly concealed....

I'm late to this, as usual....I personally think a 9mm would be the best first handgun for you. They are very smooth, flat shooting, and relatively cheap to shoot. Going with a .40S&W or a .45ACP will cost more to shoot and have a lot stronger recoil which could induce bad shooting habits (anticipation, flinching, etc) since you don't have much experience. That being said, .40 and .45 have more stopping power.

Sig and Glock are my preferred handgun manufacturers. I snagged a Sig P226 a few years ago and don't plan on buying any other brand ever again. They're a little pricey but well worth it.

For ammo, check out OGC Tactical. They have some screaming deals on bulk ammo and usually have a healthy stock. I've never set foot in Young Guns because I've had a few buddies who were treated like idiots by a salesman there in the past. Not sure if he's still there but they'll never get my business.
