I got that from the national weather service in Morristown yesterday, here is todays weather alert:

And I noticed you are from Boone...every stop at Rubitrux and see what they build there? Our neighbor got a really nice year old rubicon with low miles and all the goodies at a tremendous price.

    1) I am glad that my wife doesn't see what's on TW because she is already very worried. Like I mentioned before, we normally go EVERY together.

    2) I have to admit that I am looking forward to this forecast when I go. Even if a road is closed & I have to pull over to the side. I just want to be able to experience atleast one snowfall! I know that no one should want hazardous weather but oh well.

Hmmm. Im going to be pretty surprised to see 5" on the ground with as warm as it is, but then again I'm only at about 3400 ft.
I worked there before it was Rubitrux for a couple years around 2000 or so. Was/ still is High Country 4x4. Brad and Chris are good guys, and they do good work.

I always deal with cold better than heat. It's easier to warm up than cool down. I'd rather get up on a morning where it's -10 and get into a cold truck than get out of work when it's 95 and humid and get into a hot truck.

Plus if you're into the outdoors we have stuff like this:

We have bought a few jeeps in Boone...and yes, High Country/Rubitrux is a go to resource.

Snow is still coming down...put a fresh set of Firestone winter force uv snows on yesterday, #12 carbide studs, 265/70R17 on Trd sport rims...three inches on the ground and more coming...waiting for trees to come down and power to go out...and thanks for the banner elk weather, we are a few miles away and at the same elevation

    LUCKY!!!!!!

Glad I could be of service!

Keep that in mind for when I go up there
I'll be there from Sunday - Tuesday, Nov 9-11.
I'm counting on you locals to keep me posted on any snow in your area once I'm up there. ;)

I really hope that I get a chance to see atleast one snowfall! Like I said before, I will stay an extra day or drive a bit off of my planned path if I can see one. I'm going alone & have no concrete plans so I can go anywhere those days.

I hope you don't have any power issues but I DO hope you have some fun & a nice weekend to both of you!

Hello all,So far it looks like there is no snow forecasted. I'll be there until Wednesday morning (Nov 12) so that I can be home by Wednesday night.I did read that the south entrance to Mt. Mitchell & sections of Blue Ridge Parkway south of the mountain are closed but the reason wasn't specified or I missed it. Maybe it's due to ice/snow/construction? I did read that the trails are snow covered so maybe I can atleast walk the 1 mile trail that's on top of Mt. Mitchell. There may be snow in Clingmans Dome or any of the other mountains but I'll check the status again on Saturday.

Give yourself plenty of time for Mt. Mitchell, the trail is essentially in parts almost a climb.

Oh yea, if you have time, go do the Dragon...

Yeah, I think that trail was rated as moderate. Don't remember right now.

    Thank you for the link.

The "Dragon" looks like fun! I didn't know about that.

    Thank you.

There was actually a rather large snow storm that just went through there, but most of it has melted down now. I believe that all of the roads are back open, but alot of the trails hiking/biking/walking still have some snow on them. There was a picture of the walkway up to clingmans dome on a facebook page the other day, and it had almost a foot of snow on the walk path. Since then the weather has been in the mid 50's and a couple days in the lower 60's so i would say the snow has mainly melted. I keep check real good around this time of year because at the end of the month is when we always go down there. Good luck and enjoy your trip!!!,

Yeah. I saw that snow storm in the news. Too bad I missed it. If you don't mind, since you are checking the weather in the area, please let me know if you see any area that may get snow.

Thank you & I will enjoy the trip!

    BTW,

Thanks ecotecin, I greatly appreciate that!

I'm hoping to get updates like this as I'm up there. I am going to try my best to see snow. Even if I have to stay until night time in my truck on the side of the road on top of any mountain, I will. I'm actually staying until Wednesday instead of Tuesday to incresase my chances of seeing snow.

    YES, I'M DETERMINED! HAHA!

Well, if I am unfortunate enough to NOT see snow on the roads I do expect to see some in the trails. I bought these rubber boots for $14 from Walmart. They have a more aggressive tread design than my tires. Hahaha.
