I'm picking up some TRD [fake] Beadlock Wheels for my truck and had a questions regarding installation of the [fake] beadlock rings. Can you install the rings before mounting the tires on the wheels? I ask because I don't trust the tire shop guys to properly threadlock and torque the bolts on the rings. If I have the tires mounted and balanced on the bare wheels, can I then install the rings without messing up the balancing?

i can't answer your initial question. but as far as "torque" on the rings, just snug the bolts up by hand.

Right, I'm concerned about them getting stripped out. I would use a small torque wrench to tighten the bolts to spec.

Even if you could it would be better to have them off so they don't get scratch our gouged by the machine while they mount the tires.

This from the Toyota Alloy Wheel documentation for the Beadlock wheels:

    Tire Mounting.
    IMPORTANT: Mount tires BEFORE
    installing wheel lock rings!

Tires must be mounted first. The real issue with these wheels are the weights. the tire shop used stick-on weights, however 1 must have fallen off.I now have a balance problem.Trying a different shop next week.Apparently the pound on weights don't work.

Following factory instructions the ring is off for tire install, but my buddy has a machine that doesn't touch the rim while mounting the tire, so my rings are left on with no issues. So I guess it depends on the shops mounting equipment capabilities.
