Why would you take kids to see an R rated movie anyways? Why not oh I don't know actually let kids grow up and then when the time appropriate then take them to that movie. You really need to grow up man. A 4 year old shouldn't be in an R rated movie at all.

Maybe everyone is missing the point. Why pick the age of 6? Believe me, impressionable minds do not stop developing at 6. If they are looking out for the best interest of the child (since they think they know better then the parents), then why stop at 6....extend the age to 18.
I am not talking about having the children watch pornography, but watching a movie based on real life is acceptable in my book. The violence that is in this movie, is happening today. I want my children to understand what is going on so that they are not shell shocked when they get older. Any questions the kids have are openly discussed and not sugar coated.
Lets not get off track and start talking about child neglect. The point is, why 6?

All your gonna get here are arguments on what "responsible" parenting is. Everyone has there own idea of what it should be. Since you're their guardian it should be YOUR decision in what the are exposed to. As for me I don't think your over reacting. The fact that there is a "law" is retarded.

So your not questioning why the have the policy but that you don't think it is strict enough?

You don't have to shelter your kids, but you don't out right expose them to it.

It is when the parent proves they are incapable of making responsible decisions on behalf of their child.

Unfortunately we have to make rules and laws to protect children from irresponsible parents. This would be one of those rules.

I'm not saying anything about the OP or his girlfriend, but I think we all know people who should not be parents but are. The laws/rules are for them.

Really? I live in California and not in a trailer...I didn't start this thread saying:

"FUCK THIS MOVIE THEATER I AINT NEVER GONNA GO BACK!"

I was asking a question to hear opinions on a new rule that was released in July of this year, and the only responses i got back were insults into the way my gf raises her children. Doesn't that make you people "angry parents"? I was just simply asking a question..should have known better than to ask the internet of randoms for an intelligent opinion that doesn't bash someone elses parenting style.

I am getting a laugh out of some of the hate though especially this pic ^ lol

It's probably the oldest age that they felt like they'd have nearly 100% backing on.

You're right - minds don't stop developing at six, however, if you start looking into it you'll start finding what things are developmentally appropriate for certain ages.

If you want to make an argument that it's OK to take a 13 year old to a historically significant film, you'll probably get widespread agreement.

If you want to take a four year old to a popular violent action movie "based on a true story" so "they're not shell shocked when they get older" you just sound like an idiot.

That's all I've got to say man. "Say it once, say it well, then shut the fuck up."

    Unsubbed.

As long as my children don't turn out to be anything like you i'll feel like I've succeeded, a lot of anger coming off you man hope you aren't passing that on to your kids.
I actually hope you don't have any children for that matter. Later. ;)

Your question was vague regarding the whole situation, you may want to rephrase it if you would like direct feedback about the rule.

So to your intended question, I too would wonder why the magic age is 6 and not higher. I would guess it would lie in the definitions and rating system to determine what all is considered R. Although one specific curse word used once in a movie could possibly earn it the same rating as Pulp Fiction or any other Tarantino movie.

My only guess is the big grey area/range of what is R.

Oh I already stopped reading to far into your comments because it's obvious we disagree but you feel you have the right to say you are right and i am wrong. You can be right your way and i can be right my way, everybody wins.

So let me understand this... You want a 4 yr old to know what kind of War we are in today. You want a 4 yr old to watch someone get blown to pieces and think that is acceptable, you want a 4 yr old to see violence and a plethora of adult content before they even write their first sentence and get a star for it?

Really? Are you fucking stupid. I can understand you feel you have the right to take your kids to whatever movie you want them to see. It doesn't mean you should.

How old are you and this girl anyways?
