Previous owner babied the truck. He's a mechanic and owns a reputable shop in my town. He took it offroad once I believe. It'll go where you want it over here

It'd be solid for hitting mud holes

Not too sure how well 12 inches would handle rock wheeling though haha

Is there a 3" top hat spacer with the PC 6" & 3" body? You going to go 37s or 40s with all that lift?

I'm getting ready to go with the 6" BDS lift. This lift comes with the 4" blocks in the rear(which I don't plan on using). I plan on going with Alcans in the rear, so will I need just a 4" custom pack for me to sit level? I ask because it looks like most of you are going with the 6" pack. Would the 6" in the rear not put me back to raked out like it sits stock?

I ran the expos and a 2" block in the rear and was 1.5 higher in rear but that's what I wanted. That way if you put a load in you will sit level.

So I will say that I am a newbie when it comes to suspension so I'd like to get some clarification on the BDS 6" coilover lift. On the fox coilovers up front,do these come with no preload at all and no spacers of any kind? Ideally I think that's what I would want but if these come with some type of spacer,is there another coilover out there that would give me the 6" lift without any preload at all?

And for the rear, since I don't want to go with blocks,do I need the custom 6" (8 leaf pack) from Alcan to level the truck out?

    Yes
The more expensive BDS kit does come with Fox coil overs specifically designed for the kit. You probably only want a 4" or 5" leaf pack. The truck has around 2" of rake stock so a 2" lift in the front only = level. So, in theory a 6" lift in the front only needs a 4" lead pack to end up level.

I was thinking that also so I emailed Bill with Alcan and he said they make a custom 4” lift spring for the Tacomas that has 9” of free arch on the left spring and a half inch less on the right spring and the good news is that the cost is $630.00 for the pair which is a little less than the 6" custom pack. He said to make sure that the free arch will work because usually what they sell for a 6” lift is six inch coil or a coil and blocks that get you 6” of lift in the front. And for the rear they have a four inch block and an add a leaf to get the lift in the rear. I'm just not sure what exactly free arch means and if that is what I need?

Free arch is how much curve the spring pack has just sitting on the floor. If you drew a straight line from eye to eye and measure down from that line to the center pin of the pack. Go measure your truck center of hub to fender in the front and rear and of you have 2" of rake stock then 6" in the front and 4" in the rear will result in a level stance.

Yep,2" higher in the rear is what it measures so like you said, getting the 4" pack makes perfect sense but I've just never seen anyone mention getting a 4" pack from Alcan. It seems I always see them say they got the 6" pack so that has had me confused a bit, especially after seeing them post pics after the fact and their trucks seem level with the 6" pack. (Maybe they're cranking up the front some to compensate? IDK)

6" BDS DB, 37", Dirt King, Total chaos UCA's w/ Heims, Fox c/o's, 4-banger fenders, 37" Nittos, 4.88 w/ rear ARB, AP Expos, 17x9 Method beadlocks, cab mount relocation, "Insain fab" tub, 5% tint, 10" Rockford Fosgates, Magnaflow 18" custom catback exhaust, AFE intake, Trail Gear bumper, Crown brake lines F/R
Beware BDS rear shocks are pretty long. Too long for AP expo springs alone IMO. :anonymous:

The front C/O's come pre loaded also. I'd say over 2"

So I assume they come with that 2" or so of preload to get you the 6" lift in the front? Are there any coilovers out there that give you the full 6" lift without a preload? Do you think that rear shock would be too long with the Alcans?
