So I assume they come with that 2" or so of preload to get you the 6" lift in the front? Are there any coilovers out there that give you the full 6" lift without a preload? Do you think that rear shock would be too long with the Alcans?

What you can do is what radtaco914 and I did was to install the longer bilstein shocks used on the rcd kit for the front. I installed the same shocks on my truck when I had it but kept the stock springs and added the 1/2 top plate spacer instead and he added the ebiach springs for the additional lift. You could always install the ome 883's which will give a lil smoother ride.

For the rear you can use the bilstein be5-b110-t5

So did you just take off the coils that come on the fox coilovers originally and replace those with the 18" Eibachs?

    Correct.
One of my fav mods. Helped with the weight of a front bumper.

I don't think that Fox CO is actually preloaded, it is just a longer shock body. All the shock manufacturers only provide a spring long enough to match the stroke of the shock and that is just a mid travel stroke shock which regardless of the length of the shock only needs a 12" coil to perform properly.

Also it is important to note that with the lower control arms level = 6" lift but a lot of people crank up their CO's to get more lift to clear their tires. For overall performance your best bet is to stick with just 6" and do the necessary trimming and chopping and BFH'ing to gain tire clearance. Anything over 6" and you are sacrificing droop travel which is just as important.

700's = pogo stick in my experience, I am still running 600's with just two turns of pre load with a bumper and winch and it rides great.

Got my new bumper on this week, had CBI cut the sides back 2" so I could chop the fenders to match. This is just my first cut, just went and flexed it out and success - zero tire rub at full stuff :D

I am going to play with the shape of the wheel opening then make my own fiberglass cut out flares and get them LineX'd.

Did it before I had these tires. I prob would do #700 now for trail usage.

Tires in exchange for your C/O's ?

Opinions on whether I should get the BDS 6" kit with the Fox coilovers or go with the BDS 6" basic kit and then go with Icon coilovers? Is one that much better than the other?

The Icon coil doesn't reach the top hat either pretty sure.

Hopefully someone with Icons can chime in

I would just stick with the custom Fox's provided in the BDS kit they are great shocks AND now that Fox has the DSC you could even upgrade to the DSC the first time you have them serviced. Those BDS Fox's are custom built by Fox for BDS and are truly the best " over the counter " 6" lift CO on the market.

The length of the coil itself in relation to the body of the shock is irrelevant, as I stated earlier you can actually run a short 12" coil and have full travel. I attached a photo of my custom King's that only use a 12" coil, they are only preloaded about 1/4" it is just a really tall shock body. I am going to put a longer coil on but only to place the adjustment ring in an easier to reach spot when the truck is jacked up, a longer coil gains nothing.

Yes I've read a little bit about the DSC. I wonder if the kit is available with these? I don't see them shown as available on the BDS site with the kit however I do see that Toytec has them where you can purchase them alone.

Hey Matt,I know you picked up the Alcans from Aaron. Were those the 6" (8 leaf pack)? I am going with the BDS 6" coilover kit and I want to be sure I get the right leaf pack for the rear to get me level. Seems like the 4" would be the route for me to go since like I mentioned before that I currently sit 2 inches high in the back at stock. Just baffles me that most everyone I see with Alcans say they went with the 6" pack but then their trucks appear to sit level with that?
