Hell yeah Matt. Lemme know for sure if you head up this way (now that you have the correct number of drive axles). :p
Beer is always cold and beds are always warm.

I guess I should post those pics here too....

Went out this morning to play in the snow that dropped last night. Explored some areas I have not been before. Ended up being a really creepy day.

First off I found a rather large pile of airplane wreckage with a bunch of crosses in the area. Looked up some of the names when I got home and apparently there was a commercial plane crash 50 years ago. Dead silence from the snow and calm after the storm seriously brought chills when I found it.

    8C585C04-87CB-45C4-A8EF-E3981D973D1E_zps_5a16a2b689b3977f8efa0682e89713b6fb29dbe7.jpg

After that I decided to go through some of the routes I knew fairly well. Typically don't see anyone out here other than the occasional firewood harvester. I rolled past a jeep that looked like it had been there all night. No tire tracks in the snow from where it was parked and jeep was covered. Next to it was a hammock between two trees and a tarp hung over the top. You could see where he built a small fire. I've never seen any hikers/campers in that area before so it was a little odd at first. But the really odd part was I could see a single set of footsteps out that were partially blown over by snow. Looked a little closer at the jeep and there was junkfood in the passenger seat, driver's door was actually partially open, and the dude's iPhone sitting right in the center console. I decided to follow the tracks thinking maybe the jeep was broke down. Over two miles later the tracks went off the trail and down towards the basin where I couldn't drive.

Soon as I got signal I decided to call it in. Talked to Sheriff's dispatch and gave the GPS coordinates and plate number. Was on hold for like 10 minutes and they came back and said that it was broke down and the guy hiked out. Not sure who the hell want's to go camping with nothing but a hammock and a tarp in 20 degree weather and snow...but whatever.

    Few more pix from today:

Great actually, especially in powder. Best snow performing MT I have owned. It's still a MT tire so don't expect it to perform well in the ice.

But seriously that sounds creepy. Must not be a planner or have much foresight...

That shot with the low clouds at the overlook and the frosted looking landscape with the dusting is sweet.

Just read a story on pinkbike about mtb guys who got caught out in that big storm near Everest. What a tale that is. And a good reminder to keep or take stuff with you when you travel alone.

dude that picture of the whoops is rad, I bet that was fun. Got a quick question for you: are you running anything in terms of an inner fender? I just had to ditch mine since I cut my fenders, and now that winter is coming I'm wondering if I should get something from Home Depot to put in there. Let me know thanks!

    Thanks guys.

That's why I keep a backpack full of crap in my truck. In case I ever do end up rubber side up and I'm alone, I'm good for about a week.

I don't have the plastic or rubber fender liners anymore at all. I still have the factory metal aprons tho...just beat to shit with a hammer.

Ok so another random offroad adventure. After a tip from David (nvwiggins) I headed out to American Flats (out towards Virginia City)...touching as little pavement as possible through Nevada BLM. The flats were built in 1922 to process gold and silver using cyanide vat leaching. After operating for only 6 years, it's been decaying since. It's a haven for graffiti and paintballers. Unfortunately, the flats are set to be demolished this winter due to it's "liability and danger." Nevermind the fact that more people have been injured and killed in the last 30 years at the intersection down the street from my house that just has a one way stop sign...but I digress. Onwards to the pics

There are underground tunnels all over the place that link the eight buildings together much like the one shown below. In addition there's a whole sublevel that's remains completely flooded.

There were hundreds if not thousands of these old cans out there. Not sure what they originally contained (perhaps cyanide) but they were everywhere.

On my way out, my trip of solitude was interrupted by a small family of wild Nevada horses.

This guy in particular took an interest in me got closer and closer. At one point he was two steps away and I kept stepping back. Made for a pretty cool picture with the skeletal concrete monoliths in the background.
