I am a Christian and regularly attend church. There is no one that enjoys hunting and being outdoors more than I do. I personally do not hunt on Sundays. However I will not bash anyone that chooses to do so. That is their business and none of mine.

I just can't believe that today with our busy lives, that Sunday hunting for most species is still not permitted in my state of PA.

It's unbelievable to me that on my own private land, during hunting season, I can not pursue deer, turkey, or small game during 50% of the time I have off without taking vacation. I also can't even believe there are hunters out there who would feel differently weather religious or not.

I was probably 10 or 12 years old before my parents ever set foot inside any store or restaraunt on Sunday. Almost all were closed anyways in the small towns we lived. They finally decided it was OK to pickup buckets of chicken for Sunday dinner once in a while. No other shopping except for an emergency gallon of milk or something if needed before Monday a.m.

Nowadays, they eat out just about every Sunday like everyone does. Still no other shopping though.

I think it was mostly a protest against the businesses opening on Sunday and forcing the employees to work. I reckon they finally realized most volunteered for it and probably weren't planning on church anyways.

I didn't know these laws existed.

I guess if you couldn't hunt on Sundays in Arizona , I wouldn't have killed my pope and young bull elk or one of the biggest javelina with a bow in the state of Arizona.

Hunting any day seems logical and should be a right (privilege)as an American. Wild West or not .

    Sunday Bloody Sunday...

In the US we are lucky that our country was not founded as a Theocracy. There are still places in the world that take Exodus 31:15 literally.

Man chic-fil-a being closed on sundays sucks though, at least for me. I'll drive across town on a Sunday then when I pull in the parking lot and see no vehicles I pretty much rage on my steering wheel for 5 mins then settle for panda express.

Yeah, for some reason in PA. It's legal to hunt coyotes, crows, starlings, and sparrows on Sunday but nothing else.

No Deer, Bear, Turkey, or small game on Sunday, even on private land.

Congrats on filling the freezer! I had to pass up a large 6 pointer out here in western PA due to a 4 point antler restriction on one side, or I'd have some extra meat in the freezer right now too.

My favorite way to make fresh venison tenderloin:

Marinate in bag with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed juniper berries, thyme, and a bay leaf night before cooking. Sear meat in very hot pan, almost smoking, on all sides. Put in oven safe pan and finish in hot oven around 350 to medium rare / medium.

Brown garlic from marinade along with lots of extra garlic in pan, make garlic smashed potatoes with it.

Then when venison is done; Let meat rest and make gravy out of the pan drippings.

    Chow Down!

I am a Christian (maybe not a good one). I am also for separation of church and state. There never should have been such a law. Technically Sunday isn't the sabbath anyway. It's Saturday. However I feel it doesn't matter what day it is as long as you pick a day to rest. Hunting to me is an opportunity for reflection and rest.
