Hi Everyone,

I got chastised by Roland for not introducing myself before asking questions, so for that I am sorry.

I'm Adam and I live in Bozeman, Montana and will be moving to New England this fall with my wife to be. We're getting married in September in Middlebury, Vermont. We're looking to move to the Hanover, New Hampshire area, so if anybody wants to give me a job, let me know. I'm college educated, intelligent, quick-learning, and self-motivated. I have a CDL and currently run a boom truck. I also have significant sales and finance experience. I've run ski lifts, and have also worked as a mechanic at a ski resort, and will most likely be doing that for the summer in Montana before we move.

I've owned a Tacoma and a Tundra, and am currently looking into buying a new Tacoma. I started a thread asking questions about some of the decisions I'm about to make regarding my vehicle purchase. If you have any advice, I'd sure love to hear it.

I'm somewhat anal when it comes to vehicles- they typically run on synthetic oils, have extras that make it "mine", and are well cared for other than being dirty. Hey- if your rig is too clean you probably don't drive (or ride) it often enough.

I love motorcycles, and currently own a 2006 BMW R1200GS. If everything goes as planned I'll ride that across our wonderful country when I make my move this fall. If I have a new Tacoma by then it'll have to find its own way to New England.

The typical cop bike (if a BMW) is an R1200RT, which is more of a sport touring bike. The RT-P ("p" is for police) has a lot of neat extras like heavy duty alternater, extra lights, etc. The GS is technically a dual sport bike, and one might say that they have a "dirt bike-like" appearance. Personally I bought mine because it has a very comfortable upright seating position, but is always ready for aggressive riding in twisties, and my favorite- its always ready for a forest service road. Some people take them off roading, but I'm not that experienced, and prefer street riding and exploring on easy dirt. IMHO, BMW builds a pretty decent bike- I've had 3, and they've all been great. So to answer your question- its close to the cop bikes in that it shares a similar drivetrain- 1200 cc horizontally opposed twin, six speed tranny, shaft drive- which is pretty much what makes it an "R" model- BMW's typical design. It wasn't until recently that they started producing an inline 4 "K" bike, single "F" bikes. Theres a lot more to it, and for that I'd recommend www.advrider.com... Its a pretty colorful forum.

Cool Adam! At any rate, very handsome bike for sure. When I was much younger I owned a Kawasaki KZ1100 and a Honda CB750. If I were to have a second wind of youth, I'd leap for that BMW no doubt

Those Honda CB750s are REALLY cool. A friend of mine in NH has two of them....

... and you're never too old to get back into riding... heck, I'm turning 27 in a few days!
