Dang, that's what my skid looks like. Haven't taken it off to see how dented my tank is...

Guess that answers why my gauge doesn't work haha

So you're recommending just dropping the tank without removing the bed?

Yeah, I tossed the tin foil OEM gas tank skid after that. Was never going to fit anyways.... :D

    IMAG0575_zpsod6sidwj_7ec567df197c0d112ca73f4ba0eae817d5d8dedb.jpg

You'll get arguments for both sides, but I'm on the drop the tank side :D

Try to run it out of gas, two bolts in front, one strap in back that comes out with a hitch pin, and another bolt holding the filler neck. Then it's one electrical plug, and 3 lines. 2 of the lines have spring clips, the gas feed line has a plastic quick disconnect. Shouldn't take you more than an hour the first time, and then like I said you have way better access to work on it.

Haha nice. I was dreading the idea of trying to remove the bed...

I think I'm going to try to find another gas tank skid and reinforce it or try to bend my original one back and reinforce it

Mine isn't dented as bad as yours. I just have one dent but it must have hit at the right spot.
I think I might pull the bed and drop the tank. I'm welding frame plates on the inside of the frame and I would prefer to have as much room as possible to work with.

I'm going to try to bend mine back then reinforce it.

LMK if you get stuck for parts - I can always hit up my father in law to see what they can dig up. Remember the miracle he worked to get me back on the road for big dogs... ;)

Ah, have you had a chance to open up the motor? Hopefully it's clean lie mine was...

Mine stopped working, and I found it was due to three wires withing the main wiring harness the comes out under the cab just under the drivers seat had gotten melted from when I had my sliders welded on....

Ant helped me pull the motor off and run it, it just wouldn't move. I'm gonna tear it apart and try to clean the guts up and see what that does.

Shit that looks like you got lucky!

Took me a bit to get mine open. I'd check continuity of all the wires on the harness that connects to the motor to see if you have any electrical issues...

Yeah, could have been much worse... Haha Just glad nothing sparked or caught on fire. Somehow no blown fuses either :notsure:

The worst part was all of that white adhesive Toyota puts in the harness... :puke:

I'll try that then. It was weird because I felt the motor do something but it wouldn't move the key.

    Yeah that sticky shit sucksssss

Mine would engage and the locker indicator would flash like crazy, but wouldn't disengage.

The wire that got melted was to sense whether or not it was engaged. So it was constantly getting a faulty reading that it wasn't even though the motor was sending back a reading indicating it was

Not sure what the other wires were that got melted... Luckily I re-wired them all before anything worse happened.

That blows but glad nothing worse happened with it.

Mine just flashes and never engages. Which usually means it's the motor.

So I was dreaming and looking into dual battery stuff again so I'd have a general idea on what to get when I finally do it.

I know you had some issues with Columbia Overland's setup, which was what I was wanting to get.... Haha

    So, some questions:

    - Did they ever get back to you on the redesign issues?

    - If not, what exactly was required in modifying? (Read your posts but didn't quite understand some parts)

    - Do you think it would be possible to fit other, cheaper, batteries with similar dimensions?

    Brent- here's what you do.

Put bike in the bed, strap it down securely.

Attach jumper cables between the bike battery and truck battery. Zip tie them securely, duct tape if necessary.

    DONE.
