Sounds fun.. I've been trying to hook up with groups that have been going out recently.. Work schedule prevented that. But I'm willing to give it another try!

Just throwing this out there! Sorry for late notice. Myself, Lee Surfnmoto, and his Jeep buddy are doing the Mojave trail this upcoming weekend. Leaving on Friday morning and coming home Sunday. If anyone would like to join we'd love to have a few more. Let me know!

both runs sound fun. I do the Mojave trip anually. i just attempted it with my brother oct 17th-19th but his jeep started acting up so we cut it short. if you are going to to the section between camp caddy and afton beware its SUPER soft out there.

I have both a cb and ham radio to talk on however my last trip out they were both giving me hell with the alternator whining that was coming through

Damn the mojave trail sounds cool but I'd really need to prep more for it. I've got a couple kinks in my on board shower and air systems to work out before a long overland run.
I'll be fine to make the anza run that place is a blast ! If its the same fish creek area I'm thinking of, its right by the bombing range and a bunch of cool stuff to see.
I'm gonna be leaving after work on Friday ... Should be leaving from chino around 5 . anyone else gonna go wanna caravan?

the Mojave road isn't so bad really. We've cut across from afton to the 95 and managed to get rooms in Laughlin in less than a day... seeing all the sights will take time.. but its not going anywhere. so you can make the trip to be whatever you want... theres always the option of wheeling in to afton camping, then wheeling out to the lake bed and when you get across to kelbaker rd you can call it quits and hit the highway home.

my last trip we set out from Hesperia around 10pm and wheeled through the riverbed to the afton campgrounds at night. .. That was exciting! made it to the camp grounds about 2 am..... we only made it as far as kelbaker rd cuz my brothers jeep was having issues... so we went in to baker. topped off the gas tanks and headed for home to do some repairs...

I went in September and only made it to Kelbaker road as well and had to get back on the 15 cuz I went the same day that all that flash flooding happened from Hurricane Norbert. Had to stay in Vegas for the night.

Yikes... I wonder what the lake bed looked like that day. as dry and dusty as it was you would think we hadn't had any rain all year out there....

Haha dang!!! I've heard it's bad for your vehicle to drive thru there cuz of the salt damaging the underside of your truck..True or false?

if you did it every day you might have problems but once in a while isn't going to do much....I would say living near the ocean would be worse for your vehicle that driving across the lake bed a couple times a year...

Alright cool. I was thinking the same thing. And also I always wash my truck really well when I get back from trips. I spray the underside all good and everything.

    This.
I was being a dickhead and blew through the dry lake north of baker by power line road when it was full of mud. Thought it was rad. Left the dirt on a day or two because hey who cares about a little mud...

Dunno if you can see it but zoom in on my sliders. The whole underside looks like that rust. Took the paint off and made my rear shocks look like you took a sandblaster to them and threw em in acid. Lesson learned, and luckily I have a car lift and a sandblaster to really fix it all. But damn. Whatever the desert mud is made of is awful.

Dead horse thread being kicked so I could show you what I meant by corrosion on my shocks - I had to rebuild my rears today cause the pitting was leaking oil- old shaft below new replacement. My whole rear axle looked like the bottom of that shaft until I repainted it

Haha dang that's bad. The lakebed was nice because it wasn't wet at all but wasn't too dusty so I think I got lucky and my truck shouldn't have any issues. Still gonna wash good for sure but hopefully don't have any problems like that.
