Mullen to UF would be an upgrade for him, in the end. It may be hard to take, understand, or swallow, but it is. Even though it is a down program, for him to rebuild it and bring it back to glory, he would be considered a god, and paid handsomely.

    Meh.

I remember reading an interview where he talked about the pressure that job put on Meyer. He likely won't face that pressure here now that he has us winning. Instead of trying to live up expectations set by Meyer and Spurrier, he can set his own expectations here.

I'm honestly not saying that Mullen is staying for sure, but why would he leave now when he's gotten MSU to the national stage? He's reportedly been offered the Florida job after Meyer left and the Penn State job twice now. It just doesn't add up to me.

We've covered this argument. Are we headed in a circle? Is Matt going to bring up the facilities argument again?

Mullen is no idiot. He could plainly see the train wreck Meyer was leaving in Gainesville. Why clean that up, and get blamed? Why not let someone else do the dirty work, swoop in and make everything bright and shiny?

Why would he leave now? Money. He has proven he can turn around a program, and big time programs, with BIG TIME money, will be coming.

WHO THE HELL WOULD WANT TO TOUCH PENN STATE??? Franklin took a big risk, and a huge pay raise.

So come to a perennial train wreck, fix it up, avoid several big offers, then go back to the train wreck he avoided?
I've already argued this point but I'll do it again. SEC network revenue will help level the playing field for us. MSU grads will be willing to pay now more than ever now that we're winning. We've built various athletic facilities that Mullen has asked for. Scott Stricklin, our AD, has said that if Mullen leaves, it won't be for monetary reasons. We'll match offers.
Mullen is from the New England area. He's a yankee. Probably grew up watching Penn State. Why not go home and restore a program that was once great? Make it all shiny and new. Be responsible for fixing the biggest mess ever and be close to home?

Any new arguments? Or shall we keep going in circles?

Also, just saw the Treadwell from Ole Miss is sidelined for 4 months. Hate to see that long but glad for his sake that he'll have a shot at spring practice with his team.

This... I'd bet my left one he leaves. UF almost has its' pick of football rich recuiting grounds, money is not a concern, they have up to date facilities, a fullsize stadium and it's not Starkville....

That's a new argument. And Mullen has expressed several times that he likes going after guys that are underrated and projects, rather than just 5 star guys.

trickett was hot in the bama game, and has been since. if anything, he wasn't as hot against TCU with all of his turnovers. as far as the SEC goes, TCU does't make the playoff if bama wins out and miss. st. only loses to alabama.

I thought he was a bit off in the Bama game and didn't seem so confidant with his throws. :notsure: maybe that's just me. I didn't get the chance to watch the TCU game, I plan on watching it via YouTube in the offseason.
