Interesting way to do it, but as far as I know the crawlboxs only come with a 1:1 ratio in high. Though I'm not saying that it's not possibly to find a way to reduce it since I'm not familiar with the insides of Tcases and crawlboxes.



If I were Craig I would just live with the 2700 rpm or get bigger tires, though going from 35's the 36's won't even drop your RPM by 100 at 70mph.

Idaho changed their speed limit to 80 mph recently so I run just shy of 3K RPM every where I go now, though I still have the stock exhaust so it's quieter than all the other noises my abused rigs makes at those speeds. haha

 

You can change out the low range ratios (typically just 2.28:1 or 4.7:1) by swapping cases or adding a crawlbox, but all the high range I have seen are 1:1.

My issue with 37's is the sheer amount of demo I'll have to do to make it work.
Obviously I have no issues cutting up my truck but I really like the way it looks now too.

I like the idea of having a huge selection of tires too - 37's are available in a ton of different patterns. I love the nitto trails but the fuckers are heavy as hell.
I'd go with a Hankook Dynapro M/T probably - less expensive and way lighter that the nittos.

Think we could tub out the front end in a weekend Ant?

 

I did a small amount of tubbing on mine, and was stressed to the max!! It turned out just fine, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. You should do it the same time you do the body mount (-;
Just take your time. I think it took us around 5hrs but that was while fabricating the mounts.

Mark (NWITaco) posted some pics of his fender well work back on pg. 68 IIR.
He had LT though which moves the front wheel hub forward another 1" which helps.

I still need to get an alignment from when Anthony & I did the BL and adjusted the c/o's - I'm rubbing the firewall due to the caster.

 

Just a note Craig, I have used Yukon gears in my last few and installed them in the current Land Cruiser running 4.56 gears and have never had issue, love em. Randy or one of the techs at Randy's Ring and Pinion have all the answers on top of being a fantastic shop and distributor. Imo the best guys to do business with.

 

Thanks Chris. I've actually already switched to 4.56 with front & rear ARB lockers. Had my father in law do the install as I sourced a rear third and front clamshell with the gears & lockers already installed.

I really need to get the clutch replaced so I can get a move on with the crawler install.
Took a hit to the mod budget with the diff & oilpan repair though.

Bob (Nyco) had horrible luck with his Yukons...

ECGS only uses Nitro's in their assembled diffs and I have had good luck with mine after destroying 2 sets of Toyota 3.73's...

 

We used a plasma cutter, angle grinder, and portable band saw to do Marks (IDtrucks) haha.

 

Correct install is paramount

Only issue I had was rears I F'd up the backlash/too deep on and Randy's warrantied the shit out of them. I will never use anything but Yukon.
Just split the front on the 91 LC to fix the ARB air tube month ago and they are still pretty after hard fun.

 

Your crawler mod needs a servo mod to go with it.... that way you have a trail rig and an RC car. And since you live RC, you can run your RC car in RC yo dwag!

 

37s would be sweet but knowing I'll be there if you break a cv, maybe you should try ants 36s on the highway before you order tires

 

I can just drive his... The only major difference is AC vs. DC, the wheelbase is the same.
