Craigslist. The guy from PA emailed me back yesterday and said he could meet in Silverdale, paid $130. I'm happy.

Nice... Not necessarily a bad thing if you don't need to winch yourself out.
I found a muddy steep hill with loose piles of fist sized basalt up the first half that I couldn't make it up. First time for everything, scared myself a little rolling back down. Even locked up the rear, probably could have mashed up it but had my son and gf with me, didn't want a 'situation'

NEVER lock any diff going down hill. Found that out the hard way...

Has anyone ever heard of or know someone with this?

Not sure if the driveline would hit it or not you would think they would test it to make sure. I would love to have a bigger tank but I bet it sticks down more than the stock one. Wish they made it in polyethylene like titan tanks.

Allpro skids, Rigid duallys President McKinley CB with PA Recaro SRD with Wedge Engineering Morimoto retrofits Champion Rad - Failed Tundra brakes
    Care to explain?

When I was on my last trip (Oct 5 @ Quartz MT), it was suggested, by another 1st gen Tacoma owner, to lock my rear diff e-locker to slow the slide down the muddy hills.

I would rather save the diff versus a set of brake pads...

Since locking a diff is making both of the wheels turn at the same speed, if one wheel slips and looses traction so will the other one making you slide. I found this out coming down a fs road in about 2 feet of snow with our military truck that had 3 locking diffs (3 axles) almost slid off the side. When I started to feel one rear wheel loose traction I engaged the rear locker and that made the entire back end slide. Told the story to the mechanic of the truck (he has many years of off roading experience) he said to never lock any diffs when coming down hill in snow or mud because that will happen.

If you wanted to save the diff wouldn't you leave it unlocked so it's less stress on the diff around turns? I use the engine to hold me back when coming down hill so I save my brakes and diff
