    Morning everybody! Happy Monday!
Wait, I went hunting yesterday, and today's Tuesday. Happy Tuesday!

I stopped in at KTP on Sunday, which turned out to be a mistake for my wallet. They had a gun sale going on, and happened to have a nearly mint Ruger SR1911 sitting on the used gun shelf for $500, marked down from $600, with a set of Hogue Monogrips.
Once I made the mistake of picking it up I just couldn't put it down...

Needless to say, I walked out of KTP with my first 1911, a couple of extra mags, 200 rounds of Federal American Eagles, and a considerably lighter wallet. :D

Pugga, you apply the Amsoil HDMP yet to the 150? If so, how do you like it so far?

    Awesome!
    :worthless:
I haven't gotten to it yet. In a couple weeks, I'm heading to my parents' house and I hope to do it then. My dad has a large, heated garage :)
I hear ya, I had no clue what I was doing. It was just like researching for when I lifted my Tacoma. Tons of options, countless reviews and opinions so I just decided to stick to name brands with proven reputations and build from there. My first AR, I never even fired. I traded it for my 1911. I assembled the lower and bought the upper from PSA during their Black Friday sale. It wasn't what I wanted but I had so little into the rifle I was able to trade it for something I really did want. If you do get around to building one, start with a set of stripped receivers and go from there. The lower parts kits are pretty typical, you can go nuts and spend a lot of money on the fire control group or just go with something like Rock River Arms or PSA and be done with it. The upper took me a long time to decide on because I didn't know what I wanted it to be when it grew up. I eventually just picked a barrel length and gas system, bought some tools for assembly and now it's almost complete! It was a lot of fun, and probably not my last build.

My plan is to get the windham use it a lot at the range, learn the basics of the platform and then build a flashy 6.8

    Thanks!
Honestly, I probably would have paid the original $600; it's in really nice shape, practically brand new. Looks like it was a real safe queen.

No, no luck. Two of my hunting party had shots on a nice looking buck (probably a 200lb 8 pointer). One of them bounced him moving through some thick cover & took a shot at about 30 yards (how do you miss with 00 buck at 30 yards?!) and the other one took a shot at him with a scoped 30-06 at about 50 yards when he was already running (also missed; he had a tree come into his scope right when he took the shot and he killed that instead). I was able to see the buck thru my scope, but by the time he got to where I was standing on a ridge he was probably 200 yards away and hauling some serious ass, so I didn't even bother taking a shot on him. Where we hunt is pretty heavily wooded, but it's a mix of scrub and mature growth, so anything beyond 100 yards is pretty damn optimistic. But we know he's there now, so we're itching to get back out there next weekend.

I know, I know. I just haven't had time to get photos of it yet. Hoping to get time to do that tonight.

Yeah, he got ragged pretty mercilessly on the hike back to the truck, and we made him buy lunch. :D

Im sure he will be reliving that one for years to come.

Muzzleloader opens on Sat, I am taking the 17-19th off then the 22-30th off. Already put one down with the bow so I will be holding out for a nice one with a ML.

I got a Windham flat top .223 while it was still legal in CT to purchase... Nice gun for the price. Got a couple hundred rounds though it so far without a hitch - about 1/2 have been reloads too.
