Yeah, having a rusted out frame would make me nervous about driving it for sure. How long will it take them to do the work on it? It's gotta be a pain in the ass, the body, motor, and everything has to be lifted off the old frame.

Good thing that's not my truck :D.

There's nothing wrong with a guy securing his balls to his truck when he is able to sneak them out of his wife's purse, is there? With the raked stance of the second gen trucks there's a much lower chance of the driver then scraping his balls on the pavement when he rushes out of the driveway. Hence 2nd gen>1st gen. The logic is flawless.

I came from a 2nd gen, great truck but the 1st gen is a better all around built truck I think. I like the compact size versus the midsize feeling. Feels more like the original Toyota truck to me.

The 1st generation is rated as a compact truck. The 2nd generation is rated as a mid sized truck. I wonder which one will feel more like a compact truck. Hmmmmm. :D

None of the trucks listed hold a candle to my old 71 Chevy or even my 89 Full Size Jimmy and Toyota loses out altogether because of the frame rust issue. On a real truck the last thing you should have to worry about is the frame.

The keyword of the debate here should be longevity.

Not sure how the 4.0 stacks up to the 3.4 in terms of longevity.
My 3.4 has 150k, still runs like it did brand new just changing plugs and oil.
Hell, my buddy just got a 3.4L 4Runner with 170k, he asked me why it was idling so rough. He changed the plugs and was like "this dumbass put Denso on one side and NGK on the other". At that point I knew it still had the factory plugs in them! After 170k miles!!

Old Chevys were rust buckets big time. It's hard finding those around here without the quarter panels rusted through and falling off. I doubt they would last as long as a Tacoma either. The Toyota Hilux in Top Gear proved that Toyota trucks are the most indestructible trucks on the planet.

Everything I've heard about the 4.0 is good so far. Not sure it is as reliable as the 3.4, but we will know in a few years. One guy on here has a second gen 4.0 with like 350k miles on it still going strong.

This also happens to be the theoretical size of any mans penis who drives a Tacoma.

Theoretical?! Maybe for Gen2'ers, but us Gen1er's it is not theoretical, it is fact!

It's theoretical because I can't find a measuring tape that is more than a few million miles long and it takes to long to use other means to measure my penis accurately. I know by the way women orbit around it that it must be approximately 5 billion miles long but I can't be sure. I'm scientific that way, unless it can be measured and confirmed to be 5 billion miles long I can't claim that with total impunity without using the word theoretical.
