After seeing a 2nd gen catch on fire and get totalled from welding in the cab, I think I'll spend the extra time to not weld in the truck if I can help it haha

 

It cant be welded inside because you have to actually pull the column apart once its out of the truck to get to the slip part

 

I think 3 wet towels caught on fire when Jon was welding in my cab (for the seat swap).

 

I'll live with a tiny bit of slop. Y'all say the tacks will break but has this ever been tested? Or is this just web wheeler expertise...

All I'm saying is sometimes tacks are a lot stronger than you'd think.

i've never been bothered with the slop, but if my dash was apart already i would probably have it done. i'm sure a gorilla tack weld will hold strong but i have no evidence or supporting information to say it would break.

Some people don't know how to make a proper tack.

I have a ton of slop in my wheel and can feel it clunk at the joint, and it really bothers me.
I have heard of people using zip ties to stop the slop.

 

cut the center plastic peice off and ran a 2 inch sqaure tube across the two frame and ran another 2 inch sqaure from the middle out to where the winch plate sits

 

also right underneath where the winch mount and where the bolt goes through i welded an angle iron across from the front to back all the way to the square tube so it wouldnt pull out

 

also trimmed some of the bumper off a lil bit as well earlier.
I welded the square tube where the bolt goes through the hole welded around it for more support so it won't pull out.

It held up I pulled my buddys tundra out of the ditch and still held up fine

This is what I was thinking but it's been a while so I don't remember exactly what I welded.

However...locker would not had done a thing there at all. They don't help so much when you are high centered in snow...haha maxx tracks woulda though

That and ground clearance cause Igor has.....none haha

 

Spacers arrived. Hoping 1) they are the correct ones and 2) they fix my frame and tire rubbing issue at full turn.
