It struggles more but still can accelerate up some steep hills going up to the mountains. Have to be at 3-4k rpm to go anywhere uphill. Jeff (joemauma) doesn't street his much but I don't trailer mine at all. If you supercharge you'll be good

Bringing this baby home over the weekend! Sold my 2011 access cab to get it, but I don't regret it! Going 500 miles with a trailer hitched to my Powerstroke to get it too lol, you can tell I really want a double cab v6! But this one has only 75k original miles, 20k more than my 2011 so I really wont be loosing out any in the mileage department.

How much room do first gen double cabs have in the backseat for adult passengers? Will they be comfy back there? Surely kids would be just fine back there. I rarely haul passengers, but sometimes I do and need to know.

Also, do the rear windows go down all the way?

As a 6' tall guy, the back seat is somewhat uncomfortable to me. My head just begins to hit the roof when I lean my head back onto the headrest. Legroom and everything else is fine.

Back windows go all the way down as far as I recall..

Rear windows roll down fully, one of the best features of the double cab.

Had to be better than an access cab though eh? I probably wouldn't haul anyone big back there for long distances. More likely will have dogs riding in the backseat most the time. May use the Tacoma to go get my wife's stepchildren and bring them back home for the summer, that would be a 1200 mile trip there and back with them in the backseat the whole ride home, but kids would be fine back there. Think the windows have child safety locks too so they aren't fucking around with the windows driving me up a wall.

I can say it's a whole hell of a lot more comfortable than being an adult in the back of an extended cab... When my parents visited a few months ago, we took several hour drives in the area and I sat in the rear. I thought it was good, not great. My issue is that the seat backs are pretty vertical with no adjustment. I am 5'9" so I didn't feel too close to the headliner.

I don't drive a lot, but I wanted the capability of carrying 5 people, bikes, camping gear and more which required me to get the DC. I do not regret it one bit.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
Double cabs are great, the rear seats are slightly vertical but still comfy enough to enjoy being in the back. I carry my kids in the back all the time but I have had to sit back there a couple times and I'm fine to spend a 2 hr drive like I've done before.
