Yea I've never heard anything good about Burdick, and Romano screwed my mom back in the day so I pretty much do anything I can myself. Could always try Fox not sure how they are.

I bought my rav at burdick and have has service done there and it was okay. really lousy at first but they removed several of the service personnel since then. I bought my Tacoma at fox because burdick was just being a useless bag of dicks with the whole trade in and stuff. I have not taken anything to fox though.

I bought my last one at Romano, only because of how hard it is to find a clean low mileage Pre-Runner up here, and they had one. They were terrible, right from the start to the finish, I wouldn't set foot on their property again. When I went to deal with them on the truck, the salesman was so bad I walked off the lot, after they had removed the keys from my trade in, and it took me three attempts and better than an hour to get them back. I was to the point of beating somebodies ass over taking the keys. The owner called, and we worked a decent deal on my trade in, so I gave them a second chance. They told me they had completely serviced my truck before picking it up, and this is what I found..

I wasn't real thrilled about my family breathing what was coming through the cabin air filter for a couple weeks before we found it, due to the smell coming out the A/C unit.
I have been driving to NYE Toyota in Oneida, and they have been very good so far, just a long drive. It's a shame we have to put up with so much crap from these dealers after buying their trucks.

I need to add, I bought my 2007 Tacoma used at East Syracuse Chevrolet. They were a pleasure to deal with, gave me a great price, serviced and detailed the truck, plus took it out for all recalls and service that it needed before I got it. I became friends with the salesman, and when he gets a Tacoma on trade in, he gives me a heads up, and a good price as we have sent some customers his way for them.

Looks like I'll be getting new brake lines and rear leafs with the frame. Along with the misc nuts and bolts, and maybe my tow hitch too (can't remember for sure).

One of the service techs came out and talked to me, asked me about getting the bumpers off, and showed me the laminated diagram of new/reuse parts and said "everything in red gets replaced." Apparently they have it down to about 15 hours of labor, so 2 days with 2-3 guys working on it. While it's torn apart they'll replace things for cost of parts (clutch, bearings, CV boots, etc) since there's no labor to just do that. So I'm thinking I might have them do some of that as well. Get the whole underside rebuilt so she lasts a few more years to keep me out of payments!

Also, apparently the bitch I dealt with over my Rav4 issue was fired for not treating people well and losing customers. Toyota seems to be trying to get back people like me that have switched to other places for service. Considering I dumped my Rav4 for a Pathfinder, we'll see how they do.

Hmmmmm.... I may have to roll into a dealership around here and see if there's any options for me. I'm sure they'll be like... any problems are the results of your mods. I wonder if they even know what a cab mount chop is!!!!

Oh, i forgot to mention they're replacing the rear springs due to some of them breaking and puncturing the gas tank. So I called up the place I got them rebuilt and got a copy of my invoice. So now when they go to swap them I'll have them reimburse me the ~$500 it cost me to fix them in the first place.

I would dig up an invoice or receipt for your after market springs if you can so they'll reimburse you. They told me due to liability reasons they had to replace mine, though that could be because they were rebuilt rather than completely replaced. So it may not apply to you, but wouldn't be a bad idea to have it just in case. You could argue that you were forced to replace them yourself due to Toyota's design flaws. ;)

Also, I'm waiting to see how they handle mine. They were rebuilt to give about 4" of lift to compensate for the plate steel bumper I later added, and still have 3" of lift to match the front. If they replace my springs with the 4 leaf TRD ones the rear is going to be 3" lower than the front. Supposedly they want to get everything right so the truck leaves in the same condition it arrived, aside from the repairs. I take that to mean the truck can't leave with the nose pointing in the air even with their legal liability with the faulty springs. So I don't know if they'll leave my rebuilt ones, put on the new TRD and make me deal with it later, or do something else to make the heights match. :notsure:

Regardless, I may use the $491 reimbursement to get new shocks. Along with having them do the bearing and seals for cost of parts while it's torn apart. Maybe the clutch too if that's not too much. Had it done about a year ago at Monro, but they claimed it was chattering and smelled burning while it was in first.

And now to get the thread off this topic, does TW ever do any crazy camping/offroading/we're idiots outside shit come winter? Or is that only summer stuff?

Adub4real (aka Adam) and I had thought about getting a winter trail ride together. The seasonal use roads that we took during the summer become much more challenging once there's ice and snow on them.

However, he sold his truck to buy a house so I'm pretty sure he hasn't been scoping trails in his subie.

I forget, where abouts are you? Also, I don't have a sled so I normally don't do shit during the winter other than bitch about the cold and snow. :(

I'm lower CNY south of Syr. Lots of state forests around here that don't get plowed come winter. Not sure I would be any use on heavy snowed in trails due to bone stock (no lockers, no winch, no lift nuffin) Taco but I would love to take a try at winter camping.

Ok, I'm in Newark Valley. I'm familiar with Cortland and Marathon. I know a little between Cortland and Syracuse, but not much. My locker doesn't engage right now for some reason, so that won't help me either. We took stock trucks on the Dirt McGirt run, and I ran my truck a few places around Cortland before my lift. I don't think there's anything really crazy around here anyway, other than muddy fields where nothing short of the winch would help anyway.

Nice that's not to bad, closer them most of the TW crew. And yea there really isn't anything too difficult around here most of the state forests up here are just dirt roads in the woods probably the same down near you.

I didn't realize he sold it until I was at his house for Halloween, but I understand it. My wife and I had 2 kids when we bought our house, and I was willing to do just about anything to get out of our apartment. It was that, or face prison time for killing (or at least firing upon) my crackhead neighbors. :frusty: It's bad when the college guys up all hours of the night are calling the cops as well. Four of us called the cops one night about 1 set of neighbors being loud and swearing and blasting music. At one point there were 3 of us neighbors outside bitching to each other about them. The 22 almost came out that night to pop their speakers from a bedroom window.

So I won't fault a guy for selling his truck to buy a house with land, privacy, and room to do wtf he wants. ;)

Visited a couple dealerships. I like one of them. A bunch of folks were fussing over my truck. The service mgr looked up my vin, said no frame recall on it.... YET, but I can have springs when they come in. They are also gave me a wholesale account for parts! I have new friends!

Winter camping.... I'd give it a shot. We always went to Shoe Creek in VA in January. Generally we had snow... or freezing rain. Granted only an inch tops... but it was cold sleeping!

Just trying to find things to do so that we don't stay inside all winter. Sick of spending all winter long sitting inside doing nothing and now that i got a truck I figure I can try something stupid like winter camping.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too actually. I have a tractor with a loader now so I've been thinking about using it to pile up snow for my girls to dig through like I did as a kid. Or maybe slide down. Guess it depends how much we get this year, and how much I can pile up.

Sleds would be cool, but we're a family of 7. Doing anything together gets expensive really quick. :(
