I believe when you buy the kit it comes with instructions. I was wondering if you were close to San Diego.

I figured it'd be much easier to install the pulley while the supercharger was still off the car. Yeah, I bought the install tool also.

 

So was it easier to install off of the vehicle? I have heard people say the opposite. HMMMM.

So what are the "Must DO's" when you get the SC? Like, should you for sure upgrade the fuel pump or air intake? Also, just out of curiousity, has anyone that has a SC still been able to mount lights behind the grill?

After TONS of headaches with my local dealership, I found THIS page that speaks directly to the SC install and warranty. My dealership wanted a receipt for the parts (to determine that the parts were purchased from a "legitimate" dealership), and then the service manager had to check with her "district manager" (or whatever the title is) to check on the warranty. Initially they told me that the SC warranty would only be 12k miles or 12 months whichever came first. I told her that they were wrong.
Then they did their homework and called me back to say that the SC would be warrantied for 12 months/12k miles OR the remainder of the powertrain warranty, whichever was longest. So if I were anyone considering a SC install, I would:
Print out the receipt from the dealership.
Print out and make note of the page of the TRD Warranty.
Check other local dealers and get the best install price you can and get the local dealer to price match.
I went through a total PITA, but my SC is finally getting installed. I hope someone can learn from my mistakes.

Oh yeah, FYI for those installing with aftermarket bumpers with winches. You'll have to relocate the heat exchanger pump. Mine is mounted in the bumper itself. Also had to relocated the reservoir due to my fuse panel. Everything else was by the book.

 

The best I have found is:

S/C $3840
Kit: $550
Tax: 385
Install: $1240 (Two days)



Was hoping for $5k. I guess it's a new stereo first.

 

The itch is bad. I got a quote on the SC and install just today. Now I'm all fired up to pull the trigger.

 

How hard was the self install? I'm thinking pretty hard about tackling it myself.

 

That's highway robbery for install. My dealer only charged me $600 for install. You can buy from out of state dealers and don't have to deal with taxes. Even with shipping it's still cheaper then the taxes.

 

IMO if you can install a timing belt and stereo head unit with speakers then it should be pretty easy. It's not for beginners that's for sure. I would say more intermediate level leaning towards advance level. It's not that hard when I had the chance to look at the instructions. Pretty simple but that's me. It'll save you a lot of more to go towards other things like suspension, audio, or armor.

 

Fellow Albertan you are extremely lucky. Most dealers say no to this. Especially if they find another sized pulley in there. Trust me, the dealers that do a lot of S/C know to check the pulley sadly if there's a problem , not that there likely will be.

I paid $6100 CAD installed and ordered from a Canadian dealer, so if you paid $4300 american for just the Supercharger I guess I made off with a steal .

 

Just paid for the SC and the TRD Exhaust. It will be here tomorrow...

I'm so excited. I can already picture it all installed. Bought it from Toyota of Dallas and they're doing the install on Monday.
