Isn't the suspension unique to the Pro? Also comes with better tires, which falls under performance.

Why waste your time knocking a guy who bought a Pro lol. It's his truck, he wasn't asking anyone for there opinions on his bang for buck. He was complaining that the dealers he tried to deal with were leading with a low price than demanding MSRP, which is a common theme with this truck.

Also, to the guys saying "just swap out the suspension, engine, everything moving, under an old truck" I'm glad you are unemployed and/or way to stinking rich and have 80 hours a week to put into your truck, but most of us don't. You're nuts if you think your 2007 TRD Offroad with 8 K of parts and 80 hours of labor in it is the sort of truck OP was looking for. The Pro looks unique and comes off the lot with full warranty. If you want those two things then you'd understand the premium isn't nearly as crazy as the one for a Raptor or a Rubi.

Congrats OP on the new truck. If you had to have it and you can afford it don't let a bunch of guys who have TRD Offroads and want to play "I know something you don't know" beat you up about buying one. I'd notice an Inferno TRD Pro right now a whole bunch more than another hacked up TRD Offroad.

Yup, well said. A few grand here or there , most people would pay that vs going the other aftermarket route. A lot of dudes on this forum have a hardo attitude that tacoma owners should only mod and not fall victim to the evil marketing people at Toyota.

To the guy that bought the PRO. Sick truck. I would take it over a fully modded trd anyday of the week, in fact I would gladly eat the difference in cash between aftermarket and the purchase price of a pro.

I mean hell, I bought a limited, I kinda fit into the premise that I could have got the same truck for like 2K less if I went aftermarket, but who got the time!

I am on this forum as we are a clan!!!!! Don't beat each other up! To each his own and we should've each respect that, and keep in mind that we are all here as we have one thing in common. No matter what, tacoma are bad ass, from the prerunners up to the Pro.

I like the commentary and respect everyone of you. I like building trucks just as much as the other guy(and yes I have tools and know-how), and I love to see all of the configurations and ideas.

    Rock on TW!

None at all actually lol. I would of got the TRD Offroad myself but it's not an option in Canada if you get an auto in the DC.

What I am saying is that to have the sort of truck you want to take off road regularly you're going to have to put a lot of you're own time and effort in. It's not just $4,000 and bingo you have a great truck, for that money you're going to have to do most of the work yourself which takes a lot of time. Particularly for us rookies who haven't had Toyota trucks for 10 years. Mods are great but this guy clearly wanted a stock, unique, and warrantied vehicle he can take Off road occasionally rather than a time consuming project.

Truth, but a lot of guys on here will ram dirt up your ass if you don't buy the exact kick ass equipment they have. I'm think extremely modified desert and mud machines are cool, but they aren't the end all be all of Tacoma trucks. This TRD Pro is a looker, worth the money to some and not to others. Too each his own. It makes me a sad panda some days when guys call other idiots for spending there money the way they want to :D.

OP - Have you tried the Costco Vehicle Purchase Program? You don't have to be a member to jump on the site and spec out a vehicle: https://www.costcoauto.com/

I just ran a search for the Baja and got this:

To each their own. Some of us keep our trucks stock and some mod. Whatever works for each person. Everyone relax and have a beer.

I guess that depends on the dealer you are working with. The Pro is roughly 4k more than a TRD OR or Sport. I looked into getting an OR and then started adding up what I would add to it and figured the Pro was a good deal. I like the wheels (though would have done BFG Rugged Terrains instead of AT's) so was looking at 2k+ for tires and wheels..replace the front struts and you are getting close to $3500 invested, not to mention the mirror, grill etc. So decided to work on getting a pro. Actually found a dealer who took about $1500 off of msrp (though later told me they will never do that again) so I'm looking at about $37,500 + T & L for an Inferno DC AT Pro with factory tow (it is allocated but no delivery date yet...supposed to be late Nov early Dec). For me, I have a 69 FJ40 set up for the rocks so the Taco is not for serious OR use, though it will go to Moab, Baja and the like. Have spent way to many hours wrenching on my 40 over the last 25+ years so wanted something I could simply drive (and it has a warranty!).....I see lots of folks posting that they can't understand why anyone would spend 40k on a taco....I guess from the Old fart Perspective, the best answer I can give is "Because I Can"....buy it and drive it. Yes, there are lots of things Toyota could have done differently, but not bad for what it is. Everyone has their own opinions....I would have let them keep the hood scoop (guess I'll get used to it), and maybe even the TRD Exhaust...if they had put on the TRD Skid, included the temp gauge, and a few other minor things. Was originally gonna get a white one, but the Inferno kind of grows on you...saw it in person yesterday and it is an awesome color!

A couple of years ago on the way to the Marlin Crawler Roundup a friend and I were almost to Buck Island Lake when this 20 something standing by a ratty Yota Mini Truck started trash talking about or FJ 40's....saying they should be in a museum etc...was hard pressed to keep my mouth shut....as we pulled up along side him he got a big grin and said "actually, I've always wanted one of those, I just can't afford one". Might be a bit of that going on here....trash talk from those who can't afford a pro, but the truth be known, they would love to have one. One of the perks of getting old is you might actually be able to buy one. To put things in perspective, every vehicle I own costs more than my first house! Makes no sense, but that's the way it is. Congrats to all who have been able to get a Pro, and hopefully I'll be among those very soon (if it wasn't for the Factory Tow Package I'd have one now).

Icon Stage 6 = nearly 6K factoring in installation cost .

    Not really weekend warrior friendly.

Exactly. My TRD Pro Grill and Skewp took me from weekend warrior to Baja Racer. I parked my TRD Pro at the Holiday Inn Express and girlz be like WHAT. The mall had to close down for the day.

I see what you did there. Clever clever!

Let me know how financing that Stage 6 kit with your credit card goes. At least you won't have to worry about being seen at any malls.

Bro, I got a TRD Pro, I don't need any friends. I got every 18 year old girl's attention. Don't you get that? It's a Pro for a reason...
