    Hey All,

Just wanted to share that I finally did the Tundra brake mod. I have been hearing about. Talk about having to do some work and spending a pile of money. Bought a 231mm brake kit from ebay for $175 that came with rotors, calipers and pads. Bought new Koyo bearing and seal kit for $180. Then bought all the misc. hardware $150 from a Toyota dealer online. Then some custom S.S. brake lines for $60 locally. Did a proper break in. Big difference. Stopping power greatly improved.

Was easier for me to just order 1/4" spacers than go through the process of returning the wheels. Just a thought :notsure:

Did you replace the stock wheel studs with longer ones to compensate for the loss of a 1/4" of threads? How do you respond to tire shops that refuse to work on your truck because of those wheel spacers?

    Pretty exciting. :)
How many hours will it take to complete start to finish?

Also, I've read 16" rims are req for tundra brakes. But what about 16" that have the balancing weights inside the rim? They are like 1/4" or less tall. Will they interfere with clearance?

Nope, stock wheel studs with E/T lug nuts have been fine and have plenty of thread to grab. I've never had one back out in the past 15,000+ miles.

Never had anybody refuse to work on my truck either.

Yeah, $500+ is a lot, but just wanted to do it nice and clean. You could omit bearings, seals and new brake shields for a tundra. Probably get it done for about $250.

Well, just that part took about two hours... So doing the wrap around portion and then the whole welding of it will probably take.... 4 hours? Hope to get the rest of the taking done on Friday and maybe some of the welding...

Exactly. I am meeting a guy today to buy my old stuff so I had to make them fit somehow. Ground the caliper down enough to fit but wheels spacers were ordered yesterday.
