Ok well at least I'm not the only one who didn't get the sticker. I'm not sure if they are suppose to put one, but I thought so bc when you read the TSB it shows where the sticker is suppose to go at the end. Maybe is just pretty common to have it done and they just forget about the sticker.

Mine wasn't done the first visit either...was told TSB could not be done until tech can duplicate. So, a week later I received an emailed survey wanting me to rate my service experience. Well, let's just say it wasn't one of their better surveys! Got a call from the service manager 3 days later very apologetic and wanting to know how soon I could bring it in for TSB 're-flash. My advice...call service manager and ask for regional rep, or ask how to contact someone at Toyota Motors. I'll bet it will get done! BTW, the dealership was First Team Toyota in Chesapeake.:jellydance:

Thanks for the advice! Anyone have the number to who I need to contact at corporate Toyota? I will call the dealership and try to get the number for the regional rep.

Contact service manager and tell him your not satisfied and you want to file a compliant with regional rep. If all fails call Toyota and file your complaint...I doubt it will get that far!

For you guys in the 2014's who got the TSB done, was it pinging as bad as the youtube vid in post 56? I hate the way mine shifts (almost makes me want to get rid of it) and it feels like it kind of chugs/misses when going up hills around 45mph, but I haven't been able to hear if its pinging or not. Would love to get the TSB done for the better shifting alone if I could but I doubt they would do it.

In my case, it was not as bad, but was still there. The ping has gone, and the shifting is a whole lot better now. I have also picked up 1MPG in the city and 1.5MPG on highway and I only use 87.

Mine (2014) sounded more like rattle than ping...and felt sluggish in 4th & 5th. After TSB , no rattle and shift points were more positive and drove 100% better!

You 2012 and up guys are lucky . At least you have an available fix for your clunky shifting .Toyota needs to get their head out of their @ss and retro part of this TSB so our members with older trucks have an optional fix for the clunky shift points . In my experience , I dont beleive the older trucks have the same ping issue ,but the shifting concerns/complaints are identical to what you are feeling.

For the guys with the older trucks like my 2010 , I want my main engine journal bearings to last a while . We have no fix for early upshifts other than running the truck in 4th or hammering the gas pedal in an attempt to get the ecu to tell the torque converter to shut off

Well after picking up my truck this past Friday afternoon having The TSB done. It seems as though this metallic "ping" has gone and the problem has been solved. Also, I will say this, it drives MUCH BETTER than before, smoother shifting, and just overall better feel when accelerating. Hopefully the light metallic flutter sound I was hearing doesn't come back. I think I'm going to try and get the 89 octane on my next fill up and record my mpg to see if I get better than before the TSB. I was getting about 19.5 prior on 87. Overall, as of now, I couldn't be happier with what the TSB has done.

That's how mine was. The quick and dirty solution is to punch it going up a hill to make it downshift, but it's not the "correct" solution. You can also get it to "chug" if you accelerate slowly from a start and gradually, but quickly, give it more and more gas. It won't downshift, it'll just trip over itself and start pinging.

My pinging sounded like a coffee can with some marbles in it shaking around.

My '14 only pings if I'm lugging it very badly. Downshifting immediately remedies the situation and I rarely hit that situation anymore.

That being said I've been running 85 octane in it which is regular at higher altitude and haven't had an issue at all. I haven't had the TSB done either but will probably get it done eventually.

Took your advice, filled out my online survey that I wasn't happy with my 4hr wait time and no TSB performed. Service manager contacted me this afternoon and I have an appt. for next week to have the TSB performed! I cannot wait until the marbles are out of my coffee can!!!

That's great, but sucks that customers have to take this to Toyota for results!

I wouldn't say as bad as the video. But that helped get the sound in my head. When I heard it, I knew instantly, no question. It was steady all the way up the grade. It'd back off when I eased off the throttle, then increase as I gave it more.

They didn't test drive mine to verify to my knowledge. I simply told them and they wrote up the paperwork and did the re-flash.
