No Hippies, no liberals, no Prius, just ultra-conservative tea-partiers that believe in the end of days soon, so no reason to conserve anything.

14,000 ultra conservative evangelical followers of Ted Haggard meth head male prostitute buying preacher don't make me want to live there either.

western slope. if you're moving to colorado like I did, just for the mountain lifestyle, then stay away from the cities on the east side. otherwise you'll spend your weekends waiting in traffic, then stand in lift lines all day. Do it right the first time and head straight to the mountains. I'm near Aspen so rent is enormous and purchasing propery is impossible, but the lifestyle is worth it for me. There are other places nearby that are more reasonable too, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction. Moab and Denver are just a few hours away (in opposite directions) when you need a change. Again, MOAB is just a few hours away

    :burnrubber:

    Best of luck with everything!

My wife and I are thinking about moving with Colorado at the top of my list and NC at the top of hers.

Any input other than what was mentioned would be great, things that are important to us include:

Healthy lifestyle (we're hippie wholefoods/organic people)
    Gun rights
    non extreme weather
    dog friendly
good schools, public or private (no kids yet but maybe some day)
    Nice environment
not too big of a city (we live on the outskirts of orlando now and it's alright but I grew up in Miami and a place that big is not an option.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll steer clear of Pueblo for sure.

This would be good additional info.

So long as you don't mind a few slightly colder months in the winter (trade-off is four seasons most years) Colorado is better in just about every way.

Colorado is by far the best!

Healthy lifestyle: road and mtn biking, hiking, back packing, rafting, skiing, u name it peeps here are probably doing it!

Organic: there are farmers markets every weekend throughout the summer months, harvest festivals, and natural grocers, whole foods all of it.

Hippy's r everywhere, they may be under cover in their range rover or subaru

Conceal carry permits and permit classes, something my wife actually hates is all of the gun shops and shooting ranges. I always tell her if i get shot i hope they have good enuf aim to finish what they started!

We have 4 seasons and there has been a time when we had a 3' blizzard but it melted a week later, you'll have to wash your car occasionally.

Dog friendly - there is a bark bar not to far from my house, you go there with your mutt take the leash off and have a beer with other dog owners. There are probably more dogs then children in this state. Dog parks are in most communities!

I live in the west suburbs of Denver so u can add in professional sports teams, downtown nightlife or the local brewery for a date night.

Schools are good and where i live feels like a small town, traffic can suck at times but views of the snowcapped mtns usually keep me at peace.

    Mike,

Have Jeremy give you the quick 10min tour of Fort Collins like he did for me. You'll convert Jess in no time. I thought their landfill was a park....go figure, lol.

You may need to talk to my wife to make sure she's cool with sharing me otherwise you may not have a reason to move back up here. ;)

Haha.. I knew what you meant though. There was a couple of times many, many, MANY years ago that I was contemplating a move to Southern California and life got in the way each time... thank Allah. :D

I'll do that. Hopefully the landfill was gluten free. I dont think I could live somewhere knowing that my grass fed gluten free trash was touching conventional trash ;)
