Anyone have any experience replacing the body mount bushings on a second gen ? Mine are completely dry and worn out so my cab is leaning over a 1/4" to the drivers side. I ordered Energy suspension urenthane replacements and started to swap them out today but ran I to a snag...I can't get the body to separate from the frame ? All 6 bolts outs, brake lines etc that go from the body to the frame unclipped and I am jacking the body and it just will not lift. I can see a slight unweighting on the bushings but then the whole truck lifts up ? Any ideas ? Could the OE bushings be stuck to the body over time ? Need to cut them or burn them out ?

You undo the center bolt too? You need to do all 3 bolts on each mounts.

Center bolts yes but the two smaller 14mm's can't be taken off until the body is lifted they are too long to back out. I laid out the parts in the new kit ( it comes with all new plates and washers ) it did not look like the plate and 14mm's did anything but locate the bushing in place but not tie it to the body & frame ?

Unless this after market bushing kit is different than the OE configuration ? If that is the case how do you get those 14mm's out ? Do you have to jack the body and losen them as you go a couple turns at a time ?

My only experience with them is cutting them all and making metal brackets for doing roll cages. With the center bolt out it should separate. Get it soaked in pb blaster or wd40. Try a prybar carefully to not hack away at the body. You also have the 2 front mounts near the bumper. Just check all your holding points.

Long shot but does anyone have a tire hookup or know anyone that has a BFG A/T 315/75/16. Just went LT and first weekend taking it out got a sidewall hole. The plug is holding up fine but rather swap it out and use it as a spare.

Just a reminder, my co-author Max and I will be giving a free lecture and power-point slide show on the Old Missions of Baja & Alta California today (THU) at 6 pm at TOYOTA OF EL CAJON.

Our one hour presentation shows the audience each of the 48 California missions, from the tip of Baja to beyond the San Francisco Bay founded from 1697 to 1834. Learn the truth of how the missions were founded and see how missions in Baja were the first 18 California missions, and continued to be founded after San Diego and the Alta missions were.

A FREE copy of the special TOYOTA OF EL CAJON edition of our book is being given to the first 60 people attending.

Come early to get a seat!

IF you miss tonight's show, then this Saturday we are doing another for the LAKESIDE HISTORICAL SOCIETY, at 5:30 pm.

For address and further details on other presentations and to see more on the Old Mission, visit our Facebook page: NOV 13, TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN EL CAJON, 6:00pm- 7:30pm, NO CHARGE AND GET A FREE MISSION BOOK, (BE EARLY FOR GOOD PARKING) , 965 Arnele Av.(where the old Home Depot was located). [We may have a full house, so come early or RSVP Toyota of El Cajon]
