Popped the other window out of my topper to reseal it. This damn topper has leaked like its a funnel right into the box since I bought the truck! I've resealed all the windows and now I need to redo the seal between the bed and the topper next.

Replaced my steering rack (which came with new boots and ITRE's), my LBJ's and my OTRE's yesterday. Getting an alignment done on Wednesday but I worry the rack wasn't centered because now my steering wheel is way off.

It really wasn't that hard minus the shaft being stuck. That was fucking hell. I am going to be really pissed if the rack wasn't centered and I have to do it all over again. :(

Not uncommon at all to have the steering wheel off center after replacing all the stuff you did. They'll take care of it when you get the alignment.

Don't for a second think that an alignment shop will center the wheel CORRECTLY.
There is a procedure to "center" the wheel, spiral cable and the rack itself.
The history of the truck will have a significant bearing on just how far this procedure needs to be taken.
There is a pretty good chance that, given a few assumptions, you are just a spline off on the rack control valve shaft. 1 spline off will make a huge change, and it's a 10 min, on the truck fix. It will likely still be off a bit that can be taken care of by you or as part of the alignment.
For a moderately detailed explanation, go to post #59 of the DIY alignment sticky in the suspension section. If you need more than that ask in the general 1st gen section and I'll fill in any blanks.

    ...too much shit to list.

^This. If you assume it's just alignment, after alignment with a steering wheel centered...the clock spring goes boom

I figured (and hoped) you guys would chime in.

So I don't need to remove the rack to pull the spline out of the rack? It was a bear to get the intermediate shaft off the rack, so I am afraid to try to do it again. Should I remove the spline, turn the wheel straight and put it back in?

Or should I remove the boots, get the ITRE's even, then disco the shaft, straighten the wheel, re-connect the shaft, and call it good to send for alignment?

This is the first rack replacement I've done and I'm worried I fucked something up.

I had the steering wheel strapped down when I did all this so I didn't think it was going to be this hard. I also assumed rack doctor sent the rack centered but I feel that was a dumb assumption to make now.

Ask this in the 1st gen general section with a good searchable title like "centering my steering" for the benefit of others. I will answer all your questions.

Check out the Level 8 wheels. Its similar to the MT classic. Here is a link to a pic, scroll down to see the Tracker Pro model. The anthracite is my favorite color but I think they have plain black also. Plus the "rock guard" ring is paintable if your wanting a silver faux beadlock. I just ordered a set of 15x8.5

I don't see a link :notsure: but I went with plain steel wheels from Summit Racing. At $48 a piece, I won't feel so bad if I bang em up a good bit

Changed my PCV Valve today. When I put in the new engine I noticed that the intake plenum had a oily residue in it and I was getting a lean P0171 code. Plus it makes sense why my valve cover is leaking. Going to have to clean the intake plenum now when I change the valve covers gaskets this weekend. The valve was gummed up to hell.

Was a whopping $7.50 from Auto Zone for the Valve and Grommet.

Well, technically speaking it's a covalent bond, but I guess it could depend on the polarity of the weprld.
