Don't ship it by the usps. The other 2 I have heard are okay to use but don't tell them exactly what it is you are shipping. Homemade glass candles, jars of salsa, homemade flavored vinegar, etc... are all good to ship if you know what I mean.

 

I'm drinking....... all kinds of beer. Left overs from my Jonestober Fest party.

Ok soooo how should we do this?

 

One of my new favourite beer is Old Rasputin from North Coast Brewing Co. That stuff is delicious but pretty difficult to find on Vancouver Island. I found it at a spot in Victoria and bout their last 4 packs. I already miss them.

 

Ive traded and shipped beer several times. Fedex has been cheaper but ive used UPS as well, no USPS as ive been told its illegal. I usually tell them the package contains vintage glass bottles which technically is true and they will slap glass or fragile stickers on it. Speaking of if anyone has pirate bomb, dark lord, kbs, backwoods bastard, darkness, black eye, ect id be happy to set up a trade.

Drank my only pirate bomb and it was good but not worth $12 a 12 ounce bottle. The stone xocoveza is a similar style that is not as boozy.
Backwoods bastard should be able to be had around here. KBS is very scarce so good luck on that.

 

Yeah, I guess its hard to justify that price for any beer when Bourbon County 12oz are $6 each or less.

 

I was told by my local specialty beer store that it's not available again until March or April of next year.

 

You can ship whatever the hell you want to ship, the problems develop when your package is damaged in transit or somehow gets lost. If that happens, you're shit out of luck trying to make a claim unless you're an authorized shipper. Also, if you do decide to ship beers, then you had better know how to pack them so that they arrive intact. I work for UPS and see firsthand what the packages go through before they arrive at the customer's door. It doesn't matter if "fragile" is stamped on the package, it's still loaded on a belt and slid down a chute where a 50lb package comes sliding into it. Neither UPS, FedEx, or the USPS hand-carries your packages through their systems. Boxes get dropped, kicked, smashed and stepped-on. Also, the trucks are not climate controlled. I remember one Christmas season a bunch of our trucks were stuck in a snow storm up north and when they finally arrived, all of the bottles of wine had frozen and popped their corks.

I ship beer all the time. Just package it very well. If it breaks in transit they will throw away your package. There are a bunch of online stores that ship beer, most of them wont ship hard to find stuff like pliny.

Pliny is a little overrated IMO if you want a good cali beer look for alpine nelson, kern river citra was just released. Southeast beers that i have tried that trade well are jai alai by cigar city, their stout (forget what it is called) hop drop and roll by noda, gose and mexican cake by westbrook. Looks like you are from SC, so you can probably get some westbrook but mexican cake is rare. I am taking a break from trading right now but if you are interested in northeast stuff like gandhibot or heady topper maybe we can set something up in the future, i would love some gose and mexican cake. Check out the beer exchange, you should be able to trade gose and jai alai for pliny no problem.
