    Zach, has anyone approached you to see if the rack would work with a Flippac? I couldn't find anything using the thread search.

    I want to mount heavy- duty drawer slides under two cargo boxes. I can slide them out to the sides when the Flippac is deployed. There is plenty of clearance under the lid when it's deployed. It will be a tight fit under the portion that hangs over the cab on my DCSB camper. A shorter rack would work, but I want to use the rear mounting points.

    I can provide measurements.

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Phil I had a client awhile back that bought a rack to use with a pop up camper. Wasn't a flip pack but he was able to get it to work. I am more than happy to help you figure something out. Feel free to email me: zachscott@prinsudesign.com and we can bounce ideas, measurements and drawings back and forth.

    The clearance is a little higher where the side rails would mount. About 4". I'll measure tomorrow. The cross bars would probably not fit under there.

    It will be close. Rack sits 2" higher than the tallest part of the roof. 2.5" in the middle directly between the rearmost mounting points.

    Wow great work Zach :cool: I do think I am sold on your setup! Makes more sense as I look at it more than what I had thought of. Im assuming the light bar sits slightly lower than the cross rails? Hard to tell..

    Yes, mine is just barely lower. There is some room for moving it around too based on the mounts used. I still need to play with the aiming of my light bar so it will move slightly.

    Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
    What's your lead time for DC cab racks right now?

    I have them in stock. If you want powder coating add 3-5 days to get that done.

    50" Sidetracked Offroad. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse!

    I do however need to 2 more crossbars now...it's almost even all the way down and the OCD is driving me mad already.

    Cool, I will have to check out the light bar. I am trying to keep track of ones that customers have used so I can be more informative when new customers ask. Let me know if you need me to get you a couple more bars.

    It will be very close. Under the rearmost bar, what is the height from the bottom of the bar to the roof? I was thinking that the rear bar could be lowered. There are no concerns with deflection since that bar will never be loaded and just used to tie the sides together. The rest of the bars would be forward of the Flippac nose. Please see the attached image.

    The drawer sliders would either be mounted under the boxes or attached to aluminum angle vertically. That would increase the bar's rigidity and reduce deflection, so maybe the rack could be mounted 1/2" lower. Maybe bend the angle 1/2" higher? Please let me know if that's an option.

    I would probably only put light things on the roof (tow straps, fippac rain fly, dirty clothes, extra diapers) in lightweight aluminum or plastic boxes. Definitely some thing to be concerned with though.

    Did some measuring and we should be able to make something work. These are my measurements in the approximate locations you are showing.

    2.375" = 1.875"
    3.75" = ~3.375"
    3.00" = 2.5"
    4.25" = 3.75"

    The first measurement is the most important since the crossbar can't go any lower on this one without worrying about defelction. The others can be lowered.

    I know I was talking with Zach a bit about using Thule Ski/Snowboard racks on his roof rack. I found one on here that a member was selling and I decided to go for it. I received it last night and I just had to test fit it! I have to admit, I didn't think it would fit because it is designed to work with Thule roof racks. I was happy I was wrong! I will be securing it fully this weekend, test fitting a snowboard or two and snapping better pics. Here is a teaser for now:
