    I was looking at purchasing a set of GY Duratracs for my '12 Tacoma and was wondering if anyone had experienced rub issues with 285/70/17 on stock rims and suspension?

    It seems pretty tight when the steering wheel is @ full lock. looks like I'd either require wheel spacers or wheels with a more neutral or negative offset. Has anyone tried this? or runs this particular tire size?

    What kind of offset are you running on your wheels? was wondering if I need new rims with a more negative offset since the stock rims are slightly positive?

    The Helos I have are -12mm offset and 4.5" back spacing.

    I hear you. My flares are going away completely. I've already trimmed the underlip and approx 2 cm off the rear of the flare. I wish a vender would build a simple body sucking flair to cover the panel trim and existing tab holes.
    I am not sold on the Bushwackers....unless I have to be.

    Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
    I had 265/70r17's and they rubbed ever so slightly when the truck was stock. Heat gun to the mudflaps to deform them a little solved that problem. Theeennnn I decided my truck should be bigger and the angle grinder came out.

    Also this is gonna depend on your definition of rub. Do you just want to turn into parking lots at the local Walmart without embarrassing rubbing noises, or use your truck on trails?

    EDIT: A friend of mine has 285/75r16 Duratracs on his '10 Taco. He has a 3 inch lift and they still rub like crazy in parking lots and stuff. He still has all the mudflaps and unnecessary plastic bits though.

    I just don't really feel like damaging expensive tires, i'm not really concerned with noise. I just want to have that warm and fuzzy knowing when I turn the wheels from lock to lock, I'm not damaging the tires or frame.

    I don't really do trails. these tires are something I can use all year round for my daily driver, that are winter rated, that have a more aggressive look than stock. I like the look of wider tread on this truck which is why I wanted to go with 285's. Just wanted to see what the absolute maximum I can go without lifts on stock rims.. Seems like the consensus is, lift and rims required.

    You can run a 255/75/17 Like OZ suggested which is narrower but still achieves a more agressive stance without having to butcher anything

    I think I will end up going to a 265/70/17. Those should fit the truck stock suspension and rims. we'll see how she manages!

    Bilstein 6112's 5th clip 1/4" spacer driver's side. Icon tubular UCA's with Delta joint, wheelers superbumps, ECGS bushing. Allpro standard leaf packs, 5160's, U bolt flip kit with wheelers super bump's, extended stainless steel brake lines, carrier bearing drop. Icon rebounds 17" with Nitto terra grappler G2's 285/70/17's.
    I'm running 275/70r17 bfg at ta ko's on stock sport rims. I lifted the front 1.75" and 1" in the rear. It will rub on the UCA at full lock on the edge of the tread VERY lightly. Can't tell at all going forward. Plenty of clearance on the frame, wheelwells and stock mud flaps. Full flex on suspension is fine. Hope this helps.
