Fucking thieves. Are you stock on the TRD suspension ? As far as coils and shocks, and just added the spacer ? For a couple hundred dollars you can find a new TRD takeoff suspension and bring it to them, front and rear. That is what we just did to do an inexpensive upgrade from an SR 5 package. I would let them do the intermediate shaft, that's a chore, we need one and found the OEM part on ebay for 180.00 with free shipping. If you wanted to upgrade the UCA's you could, but there are plenty of new take offs of those also if you just wanted a cheap way to replace OEM with newer stuff.
Can you really need a second clutch already at 130 K ? If you needed it, I would try to haggle with them on the price, but for a dealer installed clutch that probably isn't too bad a deal. Mine has 180 K on the original , and has been chattering since 40 K, I figure if I buy the parts my shop will hit me around 500.00 to install it, maybe a little less. The motor mounts and bed bolts should be covered, but if not then I would certainly spend that money. It's too bad that they get you in there to cover a mistake that is their fault, and then try to make some of the money back by robbing you for shit like this.

Yeah, I replied back to their email asking about the shaft, and saying if things break (or get damaged) while pulling the frame off I shouldn't have to pay for them.

This would be the 3rd clutch in 130K.

I wouldn't mind upgrading my coil springs and shocks up front, and the shocks in the rear. I already have rebuilt springs in the rear that provide about 4" lift so I don't want the TRD 4 leaf springs as I would need to block or AAL them to get the lift back. Or sell and put my other ones back on (hopefully after Toyota reimburses me the $500 I paid to correct their mistakes).

I also asked what was wrong with the UCAs. I can't see paying $920 for stock ones even if the existing ones were broken! The Light Racing ones from Toytec are $450 before shipping!

That's crazy! like skunkman said, lots of new takeoffs on here. I think I have my UCA'S for $100 with around 15-20k on them. $950
Guess I need a price adjustment lol
A lot of the work could be done at a local shop for less money and just buy parts off of TW

Recommend Replace during frame replacement for no labor
Both Upper Control Arms $921.92 (parts only)*
    $921.92 + tax

If you want Stock UCA's, I have a VERY nice set from a 2010. I like to keep a set or 2 avail available. I'm on my 2nd set, and when I saw that price of almost a grand, and knew what GREAT aftermarket units cost, I couldn't buy in. Then I looked at what would I be getting for my $$ and what would they actually do for me other than bragging rights, and I got used ones for free! In the Tidewater thread, we have MANY Mod days, and almost always there is a set to be had after a few lifts are done. Since I got them free, you pay shipping, they are yours... or you can come over to WNY and pick them up! (The bearing are probably bad on yours).

Intermediate Shaft & Yoke $279.75 (parts only)*
Total PITA... Pay it if you're keeping the truck.

Motor Mount Bolts $ 49.96 (parts only)*
Could save half or more with aftermarket.. but small change.

Bed Bolts $ 28.62 (parts only)*
Could save half or more with aftermarket.. but small change.

    Axle Seal $82.30
If you don't know how... or have a warm place to do it, pay.

    Front Shocks $322.39
Easy stuff here... Floor jack and a couple sockets... Get ProComps. Very Affordable. $135ish for a set) Mine have already outlived 2 sets of Billies!

    L/F Bearing $359.15
    CV Boot Kit $190.52
    Clutch $879.00
Oil Leak (timing chain cover) $620.25
Unfortunatly, these are all time consuming and higher level ability jobs. If you have the tools, time, and place to do them, none of them are too bad, not even the clutch. Our climate makes me cringe when it comes to outside repairs. I froze doing my alternator a couple weeks ago.

Ok thanks! I'm waiting on what they tell me about the UCAs. If they're just rusted or bad bearings I'll probably take you up on that! I have a few months to gather parts.

I plan on having them do the intermediate shaft & yoke and bolts, but I want them to pay for it. If they have to damage it to get it off, why is that my responsibility?

I did the 3" spacer lift myself so shocks are a non-issue. I can get some OME springs and shocks to replace them myself.

I don't know how or have the tools to deal with any of the bearings, seals or shafts. Also, I can't get my truck in the unheated barn anymore so it's all driveway work for now.

No cement. Cold, uneven asphalt or mud. I need to dig up where I park the truck and fill with stone for now. Maybe eventually get the whole driveway repaved.

    I'm in Newark Valley.

Work they recommend? F dat. Put the new frame in and give me back the f'n truck. Thank you. They wouldn't get .05 cents for anything out of me if I could help it. If it breaks later, you're going to pay, anyway. F 'em. :)

That's something I thought about too. Especially once I got their quotes for parts only.

If their parts were going to be less than parts and labor elsewhere, sure, why not throw some money into keeping it running another 8 years and keep me out of payments? I mean shit the tech said they budget $12k for these deals so why not cover all the parts they have to take off? The frame can't be 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the truck! And they're not paying overtime for the guys to do it. One 40 hour job split between 2 guys from what he said.

Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of their parts-only costs are more than parts and labor elsewhere.

That's what I'm leaning toward. The suspension, bearings, and CV Monro can do for less (with labor) and warranty more than 12 months. They do lifetime on the struts and UCAs I think. Then 5 years on something else. I forget. Bearing or CV. :notsure:

Regardless, they can still beat those prices and none are critical issues.

My only concern is the timing chain cover. Why replace the whole cover instead of a gasket or seal? It's not leaking enough to leave a puddle under the truck so I doubt the cover itself is damaged.

No response to the questions I emailed them so we'll see. I have a few months until the frame comes in anyway.

This dealer drove me to Nissan over my wife's Rav4, so I'll see if they can recover. They seemed real concerned about why I wasn't getting my service done there. Maybe they can do better this time.

Use a ratchet and snug down the timing cover may be all it needs. My wife laughed about it needing new bolts for the bed.

Honestly, I'd let them do the frame... then they'd never see me again.

Thanks. I'm off tomorrow for a 3 day weekend, so I'll probably pull out my Haynes manual and figure out where the cover is, and if I can see where it's leaking.

Is it worth keeping? Ever think about working out a deal on a newer truck instead? A coworker had his frame replaced and the dealer claimed it cost them $12K to do it. Might be good for negotiating for something newer.

Thought about that, but I like not having payments. Wife isn't working and we're paying $360/mo for her pathfinder.

This dealer also claimed $12k for the frame, which wouldn't even cover half a new truck anyway.

Anyone have a set of these for an access cab laying around ? I will either buy them, or trade a nice set of Go Rhino Black Nerf bars for them. Mine are in nice shape, but the paint is starting to peel and will need some type of covering soon. Thanks, don't mind traveling a bit, just don't want to mess with shipping.
