Yep took the hooks off and tied the strap to the ratchet. So no hooks at all and passed the strap thru the coil between it and the shock then back out the bottom of the coil and into the ratchet.

I don't really recommend this and I take no responsibility if you hurt yourself! Had to say it :)

I got it now! I'm not removing the springs, just wanting to compress them a bit so I can get a few turns on the driver's side. I won't put you at fault lol I did the floor jack method of changing 5100s back in the spring and I think that was more sketchy than this haha

Yea, should make it easier to ratchet em down enough to spin that collar easier. I'd use a minimum of two ratchets opposite eachother and alternate cranking them down every few clicks. Also don't overtighten that collar pinch screw! You don't want to strip the head on one...trust me.

I saw in here earlier you recommend changing them out. May stop at the hardware store on the way home and grab a couple new ones

you have a hurst? how tight are the shifts? does R need a slap to get it over?

kayla is wanting to do something with her stock shifter to get rid of some of the play... i had the URD and now TRD short throw.. i would imagine the hurst is similar to the TRD as it's a full unit versus stock shaft with replacement links..

edit: sick pics btw...i really need to make a trip up there to explore before any moves are made...

    and this.... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/moab/351265-2015-rock-therapy-official-thread.html

The hurst is tight. Super awesome. Almost clicks into gears. I like the hell out of it when I drive this beast.

K I lied.... Plans to solid mount my lower control arms and run a Dirt King hiemed upper control arm are in the works.

I'll be using LSKs solid mount tabs in conjunction with the TC cam tab gussets, and running a Dirt King upper arm just like the sets they released recently for the 05+ taco but with hiems. Finally i'll be able to keep an alignment for more than a week, well more than a week if i didn't get offroad to romp on it.

MTR-K's are holding up great. Almost 15k miles on them. About half or a little under half tread left. A trip to moab, a trip to WI and back to WY, a bunch of aired down trips into the mtns near me and lots of blasted two track. Overall amazing tire in temps above freezing. Although most dirt is fine when below freezing. The beef I have with the MTR-K is on any frozen or slick road surface. They are garbage on that stuff. Which is fine, it's an MT...I wasn't expecting much more. Get them siped and they'd probably be a stellar winter tire. Or just drive slow :p They do wear fast in hot asphalt applications though so limit the time you drive around on that stuff in mid summer heat!

No worries! It'll be there still when you can make it

Air down to about 20-25 PSI when on packed snow or icy packed snow. Allows for a wider foot print and allows the tread to move around for better traction. My MT/Rs have about a little over 1/4 inch of tread left. I was out driving in the heavy rain today and never had issues with losing traction. I will probably buy these tires again soon. I was considering the Dura Tracs, but I might have to stay with the MT/Rs. They've served me very well.

Hmm I'll try it Drew. I only left them at normal psi since I was driving 150 miles to my destination over a few mtn passes and saw both "dry" pavement and hardpack/ice. I was at 32psi for that trip when i felt like they were sketchy on those conditions. In the summer on road I leave them at 40 psi fyi for those reading with great tread wear.

Hmm... maybe I will have to rethink my next tire choice? Was thinking the MTRs or KM2s. Might just go to the new AT KO2s since we running out of places to wheel here anyway...
