My original setup was the following:

    • Front Bilstein 5100s (set at 1.75") on stock coils
    • Rear TSB leaf springs on stock shocks
    Current setup:

    • Front Bilstein 5100s (set at 0") on OME 885 coils
    • Rear Toytec AAL (1.5") on Bilstein 5100 shocks
After the install, I noticed I have a slight rake forward.

I was thinking about setting the front 5100s to 0.85".

    What do you guys think?

Or add 1/4" top plate spacers , depends how much you wanna come up in the front

I thought you weren't supposed to set the 5100s above 0 with 885s :notsure:

There are quite a few members here running the 5100's at .85 with the 885's but personally I would stay at 0 and add the top plates

So what exactly is the difference between running 1/4" top plates, or adjusting the 5100s to 0.85"?

Well, .85 is quite a bit more than .25, plus it is preloading the coil, which is already a lift coil, which could cause excessive additional lift as well as too firm of a ride. The 1/4" Top-Spacer will provide about another 3/8" or so of lift but will not make the ride stiffer.

    Thanks for the explanation!

How easy is it to install the top-spacer and do they come in different sizes (other than 1/4")?

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I'd leave it alone for a couple thousand miles and see if the rear settles down enough that you might not notice the rake.

The 1/4" will work with the factory studs, but the 3/8" or 1/2" require longer studs to be installed in the top-plates.

So is the only downfall from setting the 5100s to 0.85" with the OME 885s a stiffer ride?

If so, I may just go in that direction.

Just trying to level out the truck a bit, without putting anymore money into it.

From what I have gathered, it is better to add the spacer on top than to pre-load the spring. I have always read 5100s should be set at 0 if using a "lift spring".

I am currently running 265/70/17 Duratracs and I am putting my order in this week for 885X on 5100s and 1.5" wheelers AAL. I am also adding a 1/4" top plate spacer for the driver's side lean. I have a prerunner so I expect to be about level or maybe a slight rake (rear high).

By the way, nice looking truck!

    Update:

I adjusted the front 5100s to 0.85" and got exactly what I was looking for :)

Also, I was able to get within OEM specs after an alignment (without having to get aftermarket UCAs).

The ride is slightly stiffer, but definitely tolerable.

Here are the before and after measurements (taken from fender to center of wheel cap):

    Front:
    • Stock front suspension: 20"
    • OME 885 coils + 5100s set at "0": 22.5"
    • OME 885 coils + 5100s set at 0.85": 23.25"

    Rear:
    • Stock rear suspension: 22"
    • Firestone Ride Rite air bags (set @ 20psi): 23"
    • Bilstein 5100s + Toytec 1.5" leaf spring + airbags at 5psi: 24"

did you end up putting a small spacer on the driver side to compensate for the toyota lean? (weight of gas tank, battery, driver)? I spoke with a shop that is doing my install this Friday but they havent heard of the toyota lean?..

I am getting the same setup but with the wheelers 1.5" progressive aal. I am also ordering my avid light bar this week and perhaps UCAs if I can find a good black friday deal.

    Truck looks good!

I didn't use any spacers up front. After taking measurements, both sides of the front measured about the same. Curious to see what the measurements will be after a few months.

Are you at a full tank of gas? I have heard mixed reviews about if toyota leans exist on the Tacomas. I definitely had one on my FJ, but I had the Toytec adjustable coils so I just dialed them up to even it out.

Just noticed that the tire size on your alignment printout is incorrect. Does that make a difference? It shows 26570r16 instead of R17.

Or you could have went with a 887 spring. Thought about doing that to gain back some lift I lost when I put my bumper on.
