It crossed my mind. At some point I'll put out a feeler to see how much interest there is in that.

At the moment I have too many irons in the fire, and not enough beer.

I'm not sure I understand. When I look at the crossbars and the 2 corners that extend to attach to the bed cleat, it does seem like it would now be misaligned. Could you explain what you mean by long direction and how it still fits?

When I say "long direction", I mean they are slotted length wise in relation to the cross bar.

Since the holes are slotted like that, the sides of the bed can move closer together, or farther apart from each other, and the cross bar will still fit.

Wow. Those are the holes that caused all the 'uproar'? Those would be so easy to plug with something stock already out there...

KB Voodoo, you do realize that with the side rail caps, two versions of cross rails, cargo basket, and tailgate cap, all those are made with more thought and quality in mind than the truck beneath them, right...?

Really like your stuff. Haven't got any, but sure am leaning that way. Thanks for the gumption to design and make something worth having.

If they come out anything like the tail gate cap they're brilliant.

From my experience... you will not be disappointed if you order any of his stuff. I can't wait until these rails are finished. They will work perfectly for my set up.

Very interesting project you have going here. I've been thinking about similar bed-side rails like this for some time. I want to build a rack around a SofTopper truck cap. These would make an excellent foundation from which to build. Sub’ed for future availability.
    Thanks,
    dd

That is why some people would want a solid foundation, say 3/16" to 1/4" plate.... maybe some extended spots/area to weld bed-rack tubing to go over a hard or soft shell.

    Just my 2¢

I'm in for the side rails when they are available!!! You can see the OEM rails bent from installing the Extang Solid Fold Cover, and on the taco's bed Chad's bed brackets and tailgate cap system ready to be installed!!!:D

That's total BS. I have the Extang solid fold cover and there is nothing about it that can make a dent like in your picture.

Now why would I lie about the dent??? The cover was installed about a week and i took if today because they are going to replace it because of excessive leaking. If you take a close look in the second pic you can see the bracket that holds the cover closest to the truck cab.

The dent looks to be about where the first hinge point of the cover would go, but I too am confused as to why the cover would dent the plastic cap, unless they really are as weak as I thought.

They installed it and the cover was leaking really bad, I took it again so they could figure out what was wrong and they moved it a bit closer to the truck cab. I don't know if they installed wrong the second time but today I took it off because Extang offer to replace the faulty cover and the rails were bent like that. Beats me, maybe the heat down here cause the bent.

The bracket is located at the middle of the panel. Perfectly flat with weatherstrip. Nothing there to cause such a dent. Strong flat panels don't dent what they lay on. Your cap was dented by something other than the Extang.
