You would know then by maunfacture reccomendations is .... double clutch, i'm as likely to not double clutch once you get familiar with the truck, a the RIGHT TIMES. Biggest reason why man. trans. in truck go bad is people flooring the clutch into the brake... and grinding gears because they needed to double clutch and didnt..... hell , i can shift my taco without clutching, but i still use the clutch. Cheap smack talk of people over 55 double clutching shows a lot of immaturity , tring to one up n be cool , it will likely end up getting you failed on a CDL test , At some point there is a lot of times not to double clutch, i wont deny that.
Lot of diffrernt sweepers too, usually no need to be shifting and running broom controls... task management.

Man if you only shift at stops and starts, I wonder how you leave a 65 or 55 zone and keep going at that speed in a 30 or 45 zone. I know you downshift DEXTER! You and I both slipped it out of gear , brought up the r.p.m.s and slipped down a gear. you're not 5 and we're not 55 ,leave the cheap smack to a 300 lb redneck who hates our trucks.

(the edit) I'm gonna apologize to you Dexter. I think you got my comment out of context, but I didn't need to bring work home and take it out on you. I wont edit the above post and hide it so you wont need to wonder what I said lol.
I was reffering to trucks go into the shop from double clutchers (who did it wrong) getting the clutch brake applied while moving, and no clutchers(who got it wrong) who grind the transmission. Autos solve the maintainance, and let drivers focus on driving/work.

i live in las vegas where there are tons of stop and go traffic unless you know which back roads to take at certain times of the day...but as far as my manual '06 4x4 goes...love it...

standards is 10x more fun to drive...you can romp on it in any gear and you have the full power of the engine at your mercy...unless you can change your driving habits on a daily it really comes down to personal preference...I just prefer manual when wheeling and as a DD...

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
    I've always owned manuals.
    Pros: 1:quicker, more controlled acceleration
    2:Less parts to break down
    3:Generally makes the truck cheaper.
    Cons:
1: The clutch will wear out, sometimes not for 150-200,000 miles, sometimes after only 65,000. Unless you do it yourself, expect to pay lots of money.
2: Harder to drive in congested traffic
3: You will have one less free hand, especially in traffic.

The 6 speed tranny in the manual taco is a 4 speed with 6 gears.

Like I said in a following post, I'm reffering to trucks going into the shop with trans problems, either grinding gears or damaging whats called a clutch break. I'm not reffering to his, mine, or others skill. "what time is it?" ... "who ever said it was a rolex" .....wrong responses to the stated context.
The statement I had made was reffering to downshifting commercial trucks with manual trans, and what is called double clutching, done wrong they can easily send trucks to the shop due to damage.
Simply put , I'm thinking we both agree an auto in big rigs is a good thing, his context was skill, mine was a couple things that put a manual in the shop. (ps downshifts in commercial truck wth manuals require you to rev up before going into the next lower gear, unlike our trucks)
ok , back on the topic.

I got you! So, the Tacomas dont need to ever be double clutched? Is this because of the "stabelizer"?

Hey guys no fighting! Miscomunication is the reason for the thousands of different types of religions....... religion causes war:D!

I'm thinking its they are synchronised as to why we dont double clutch. I got my butt kicked by my flu shot and I'm not exactly acting right, not to let it excuse any major rant i spewed out.

I hate flu shots..... only time I get the flu!!! Also, we belong to a free country and rants fall into the right catagory:D. as long as at the end of the day we dont own a shity truck all can be right!!!

Is the URD or TRD Clutches really that much better? And if the clutch is replaced, what other problems have been found in the Tacoma Manuals!

I have never owned an automatic. I just prefer a manual. It makes driving more fun and I do like being able to keep it in gear going down a hill and save the breaks a little bit. Also, you don't have tons of stupid people asking to borrow your truck to move stuff, etc. Haha I think that was one of my main reasons for getting a manual. I think mainly it's just a personal preference tho.

You can gear down an auto going down hill just the same, the auto on this truck actually engine brakes by itself to an extent when going down hill.

I think its mainly a personal preference, but you have to take the specific vehicle into account aswell because not all manuals or autos are created equal.
