Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Whatever you go with, good luck and welcome to TW! Can't wait to see what you get! :) You will get many good years out of a Tacoma, they are the best little trucks on the planet.

Oh, I see what you mean now. I would go with the automatic double-cab and I'd be alright with the 5' bed.

Thanks for the welcoming! I'm excited to purchase one finally. I guess if I go with the Pro edition they take a while to get in to my local dealership, up to 3-5 months from what I understand.

That's good to know. I've been quoted $42,000 with the predator step-up bar, and including tax, tags, etc. Does anyone know what a good price I should get it down to?

For a truck that has a limited stock there probably isn't much room for negotiating. If you won't buy it at 42, somebody else will and the dealer knows this. I wouldn't expect much to come off that.

That was kind of my thoughts as well, I was hoping that someone might have had some luck with their dealer. These trucks will show up on a showroom floor somewhere and be gone in 24-48 hours.

I've tried buying several Tacomas before I found one I wanted and at a price I wanted to pay.

Tacoma will sell new or used. Dealers know this, and their is a butt to sit in that truck no matter the price. If you won't pay it someone will.

But keep in mind that no vehicle manufacturer makes a lift and off road equipment that matches the durability of a quality after market off road company. I not only would not be envious of a TRD Pro, I'd chuckle at the owner for blowing money far better spent elsewhere. Oh and its illegal to void a warranty just for adding a lift kit or other accessories.

    Yeah.
MSRP on the TRD Pro is $7K more than a comparably equipped TRD Off Road, and you'll have more luck finding the OR, more color options, and more negotiating room. For almost the same vehicle, I would go with the TRD Off Road and save myself $8K. For $8K I could do a lot of cool upgrades.

But maybe I am just a cheap bastard.

Well, since you've got the dough make sure it's got that "Supercharger" thingy on it when you leave the dealer.

That's an interesting thought that I think a number of others have pointed out. Help me with this, because I am trying to understand Tacoma's lineup better, is the TRD Off-Road and Sport essentially the same thing that the Pro is minus the different front end and 2'' factory lift?

2015 TRD Pro in the Garage!
The TRD Pro is basically a Baja TX suspension wise, Standard TRD OR rear springs with remote res. shocks that allow for more droop resulting in about an inch more rear wheel travel. Front has the same type longer struts as the Baja with softer rate springs and maybe a valving change (not 100% sure on the valving) resulting in about a 2" lift and an inch or so more wheel travel than a standard TRD OR. Major differences with a standard TRD OR are listed below:

TRD cat back exhaust, Retro Grill, Scooped Hood (sport hood), color matched mirrors (with blinkers)...bumpers...fender flares...door handles, Satin Black centered faux Beadlock Wheels with BFG AT's, Semi- de-badged with Tacoma on doors and TRD Pro on tailgate in Satin Black, Entune Audio+ with nav, homelink mirror, TRD Pro Carpet mats, TRD Pro shift knob, SR style blacked headlights. May be a few more things not listed. If you got a white one or a black one it would be hard to tell it from a TX with a quick glance...if it is an Inferno one you will know it's a Pro from way far away!

In short, pretty much a changed up Baja TX with a new grill and color. Great if you want a cool truck without having to do much work to it. If you are going to do serious rock type wheeling build up a cheaper one. If you like the desert and want to do more overlanding type stuff the Pro would be great. I'm getting a Pro for a daily driver / Baja type rig...I already have a dedicated Rock Crawler so no need to take it out and bash it up in the nasty stuff.

As to Price, not sure where folks get the $7-8k more for a Pro on MSRP. If you check MSRP on a DC AT TRD OR with Entune+ with Nav and the Factory Tow Package you will be pushing towards $36k. MSRP on th DC Auto Pro with Tow is $38,950 and includes the Entune+ with Nav. I looked at buying a TRD OR and adding the Pro's wheels & Tires and a few other things and was getting up to the price of a Pro, so just bought the Pro. The actual MSRP difference between a TRD OR & a TRD Pro is about $4500. If you add Nav to the OR the difference is getting slim, change your tires and wheels and you pretty much paid for a Pro. All depends on what you want / like and plan to use it for....enjoy whatever you buy!

Note: Most Dealers will negotiate the price on a TRD OR or Sport. Most won't budge on the Pro and many are adding on stupid amounts of dealer mark-up. If you want a Pro, do a lot of looking around as there are dealers who will sell for msrp or a bit below. Also, if you like the Sport's looks and are going to do serious OR stuff, the Sport has the bigger 8.4" rear end which is about 15% stronger than the 8" rear (TRD OR & Pro have the 8" E-locker) . So a Sport with an aftermarket locker installed is a stronger rear end than a TRD OR E-locker.

I'm in the same boat as the OP... For reference, I was quoted $37,970 for a DCSB white TRD pro 6MT (this is before tax, tags ,etc). I am located in central colorado. This is from a dealership that is 2.5hrs away from me. Delivery would be early march, maybe feb. I might make a deposit next week. The only other thing I want is the short shifter... I mentioned that on the phone, but I'm not sure if the quote included the shifter or not....

I would put the 4x4 with the TRD, that's what I did.

Maybe by Feb. we'll know what the '16's are going to be. Might be worth the wait since you are already thinking Jan.,Feb. not that they will be available then but you might just fall in lust with the newer one

Seriously... I thought I covered that already and the OP read it?

Only the OFF ROAD has A-TRAC, REAR LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL and a couple other driving aids. These things allow the truck to do more, go further, pull out others, be safer in the outback, etc. The suspension is slightly different too.

The SPORT is a 'looks' package: Fake hood scoop, color matched bumper, mirrors... but the main point is that it has NO additional drive ability/ traction systems than a base Tacoma. All Tacomas are great, mind you... but only the OFF ROAD has the factory locker and A-TRAC (which acts like front and rear automatic locking differentials, and is amazing).

If you need a double cab with a 6 ft. bed, then you can't get that in an Off Road... because it is too long to drive off road... you will crunch the back. Heck, I drive in such rough places I even crunched the back in my 5 ft. bed double cab. In Canada, you can't even get a double cab Off Road... which is a shame!
