    Update:

    I am feeling a little better. :)

We had a great talk and we have decided to remain really good friends. We are going to hang out and party a little bit and see how things go from there. I'm really hoping she will see what she's missing though. We already set up little dates and we are calling/texting each other. Starting over from square one I guess you could say!

It should (hopefully) be a fun little process though. :)

College though, I still hate it.

I just found out a few friends though are going to a college in the same district so I am going to try to transfer. :)

Getting the Navy to pay me to goto college AWESOME...

Okay, I was able to get the Navy to pay for my Bachelors degree without ever wearing a uniform until after graduation. Currently they are paying me $80K a year plus paying for my MBA.

I made ~$40K a year while in my last 2 years of college w/o doing anything other than calling the detailer once a month, passing PRT twice a year, and passing my courses with 2.8 or better.

No joke, do not drop out of college... if $$ is the thing, call you local Naval Officer recruiter ask about BDCP for non-science/math majors, or NUPOC if you are a technical major. I'm telling you its an awesome deal.

I did BDCP (Bacalaureate Degree completion Program) I recieved E3 pay ($1700 a month, full benefits, housing allowance ($1800 a month, Seattle area), plus food allowance (~$260 a month). I lived in my own housing or the dorm at UW for 2 years.

NUPOC (Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate) you get E5 pay.

After you graduate, you owe 4-6 years, attend Officer Candidate school, and receive your commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy.

I literally did nothing other than school for two years... just passed the Academic requirements and physical...

Also, guaranteed job when you graduate... oh and the best part is that I have 2 extra years counted towards retirement unlike ROTC or the Academy.

Do not be duped into enlisting and going to the fleet first... enlist and go to college first... then become an officer

exactly...I'm in grad school now after finishing college, and am beginning to see how the real world is going to tie me down. Makes me look back and think about how much fun I had as an undergrad and how much MORE fun I should have had.

College has the potential to be the best time of your life. Meet new people with like interests. There are LOTS of girls EVERYWHERE. Your responsibilities in life are about as minimal as they can get. Beer, pretty self explanatory (don't drink underage, blah blah blah). Sure you're poor, but so is just about everyone else...

This is your first semester, and you're only a few weeks into it. Don't give up before you get a chance to experience college. There is a world of opportunity ahead of you...find something that is interesting to study, give it all you've got and you'll do well

As cool as it would be to join the Navy, it's not for me. It actually sounds like a lot of fun. I just wouldn't be able to devote my life to it. Even if it's just 4-6 years. I was speaking out of desperation and without a clear mind. I'll figure out this whole college thing though. Hopefully.

Derek, as good as this sounds, give it some time bro. If you let her know that she can have you whenever she wants you, she'll take you for granted. If I were you, I'd cut all communication for at LEAST a month. It will give both of you time to think about what you guys really want. If its meant to be, it will only be that much stronger in the end.

but in all seriousness, just kinda take it as it comes. dont rush or push things. she'll realize what she's missin out on. dont stay devoted to her though. im not saying to go out on dates with other girls but dont let your world revolve around her. give her her space and time, and let her see what life's like without derek.
