I'm seriously interested in buying an intake for my truck. I'm likin the TRD intake but I found AFE, and Volant. They all seem to be made very similar. I need some opinions which would you recommend. BTW I found a TRD intake for 280, not sure what the others are going for.

u have a tru cold air intake stock on your truck. save some money and just get an afe pro dry s filter and put it in. but if i were to get one, it'd be trd since they are associated with toyota. cai's sound great, but dont expect a significant change

I have the AFE Stage 2 intake and i love it! it sounds awsome. But dont expect hp. gains maybe 1-2hp gain but nothing big, i noticed better throttle responce but thats it, but worth the money imo.

    Ebay.

I understand. I've installed an intake on my truck and love the throttle response and the MPG gains. Yes I did gain MPG in my ride. Thats of course when the HFS is not in effect.

Agreed on the HP gain, and throttle response.

    Yep.
I have always been a fan of K&N. Every vehicle I have owned has had one. If you know how to take care of them, including not over oiling, they are great.

Yea, you wouldn't believe how many mass air flow sensors I've sold for Chevrolets with over oiled K&N air filters.

I've had K&N on a few cars before but its my least favorite. I do appreciate your input though.

Thats kinda like the TRD. How much can you get an AFE for?

it was fairly expensive and more than the trd i think. I am pretty sure that afe made the trd intake cause they are exactly the same in every aspect other than the name on it. but im pretty sure it was around 450$ that came with a cleaning and oiling kit, as well as a pro dry s filter and a pro5r filter, which I am going to be selling on here right away as I only need the one filter

been planning on doing the Coupe Mod to the TRD CAI...that way the engine can get suck in more ambient air at a quicker rate...gotta finish some other projects prior to starting this 1...right now I see a degree above ambient air temps for my intake...when stopped it will increase to as much as 20 degrees...but as soon as I start moving the temperature starts to drop quickly...i just want to run closer and get the temps down to ambient faster...the cooler the air the more power...

That is an amazing set up. Where did you get that cover? and is there a write up on how to do the Coupe Mod to the TRD CAI?

Has anyone done any CAI work with the scoop on the TRD Sport model?? I have an '06 TRD sport and want to use the scoop capability for "scooping" up air.

Anyone done this??? Seems practicle to me.

Never heard that, but I have heard that they can make your truck run to rich. I have a special MAP loaded via the APR X-1, and loving the power. Sound is not all there due to the closed box, but definately pulling in some good temps. Last time tested was about 1-2 deg above ambient air temp per Scangauge...
