Just found Ethanol free gas. Yes!!!

I agree as well. All Shell stations up here in Canada have ethanol free premium which is only thing I use in my Civic Si and MX-5 as they both require premium. The Taco gets 87 regular with ethanol.

 

I have one gas station here in town that does it too. It used to be available in all 3 grades but when Conoco bought them up it is now only available with premium.

 

Lucky you guys! We need to cross into Mexico to get better (ethanol-free) gas!

 

Ethanol gas blends gum up carb jets quickly, and can ruin seals.... as stated previously.
California is probably the worst state for finding ethanol-free gasoline.

 

I run regular ethanol gas in my Taco since it's fuel injected, but, any of my carbureted rigs like my quads, my old Fords, and lawn equipment all gets premium. As stated, ethanol doesn't mix well with carburetor setups at all. I worked at a small engine repair shop for a couple years and serviced many carburetors on lawn mowers and the jets were always gummed up with this white pasty looking shit from ethanol as were the fuel lines too.

But that aside, ethanol gas is perfectly fine to run in modern fuel injection systems. It wont harm your Toyota to run it. I rarely run premium in mine, only time I do is if I'm traveling because I've noticed that I do get better gas mileage and the engine seems to have a tad more oomph to it as well.

I don't think that is going to happen anytime real soon. The uproar over the decreased fuel economy has the EPA backpedaling on the mandated use of ethanol in gasoline.

Well I'm going to continue to run the ethanol free gas 91 octane which is currently $3.74 a gallon at the station near me. Regular 87 with 10% ethanol is averaging about 3.30 -3.35 around here so for an extra .39 -44. cents a gallon I'll use the better stuff.

 

Oh, wow! We're down to 2.79 for 87 octane here. Not sure what that Ethanol free station is charging.

 

Yeah in my necks of the woods, Plattsburgh, NY, the gas prices are ridiculous. It's usually on par with Long Island prices and in the Albany area it's usually .10-.20 cheaper. Makes no sense to me.

 

a few no name places around here have it. also all the Weigel’s have it down here. it’s $3.38 a gal at Weigel’s today.


you wont see much change unless you run 4+ tanks of it. Last summer i ran 6 tanks in a raw and saw 50 miles more to a tank.

 

With our oil independence from Arab oil coming with the Keystone Pipeline and good Canadian crude heading our way, look for $2.00 gas and I hope leave the corn alone to eating and feeding pigs!

More plentiful from a local (North American) source... lower transport cost (a pipeline is the cheapest and environmentally safest way to move oil). The massive North Dakota reserves will use the pipeline instead of the train cars now. Farmers there are protesting that they can't get their crops to market because the oil is using all available trains. We need the pipeline installed as much as Canada. Between the three main North American countries (Canada U.S., Mexico) combing the oil we all have, we can tell Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to go stuff it... and they are panicking, dropping the price per barrel to $75 already... to try and get people here to not approve the Keystone Pipeline and continue to use their oil.

 

I hear everything is expensive there, though. Guy I work with lived in Hawaii for many years. He's semi-retired and moved out here a few years ago. They sold their house for nearly $700k and it had a tiny lot and the house itself, while nice enough, was nothing too special according to him. $700k here would get you an absolutely massive and extravagant newer house on many acres.

 

The closest station to me carries 3 grades of corn-free. I try to fill up there as much as I can - I do see 1-1.5mpg better in mixed driving conditions. Don't really notice any other improvements. Also helps in small 2 and 4 stroke engines as others have said. I keep corn-free in all my mowers/blowers/saws. It is about 28 cents more per gallon, but I feel better about it. Our trucks don't need more than 87 octane - especially as close to sea level as I am.
