Hi  and welcome aboard. I was looking at your profile and the list of mods for your truck is shy in the off-roading department, especially for RC in winter. Do you have sliders, skids, winch, 33" tires?

Sliders are on the way. I hope they get here in time.

Hopefully you have 33s and a lift. If there is snow you want at least two experienced trucks with you. If heavy snow add a winch and block.

Don't have a lift but I have 265/75/16 fierce attitude MTs. I do have experience, I have wheeled a lot in Washington, Idaho and been to Moab once. All with jeeps though. Is there no easy/ moderate trails there?

There are plenty of easy/moderate trails. Snow and ice chage all that. As for tire size, this is by far the biggest factor for ground clearance.
If you go to RC4x4.org you can see the maps. While many of the greens have dirt road like qualities with few obstacles, very few of the trails are flat.
Many of the greens have rocks that protrude about a foot. The blues have some boulders that stick up a foot and a half. The blacks have two footers.
I have become proficient at pounding the dents out of my factory skids and have armor 3/16 on the way as I like the blues and plan to do blacks.
The color rating does not take erosion or weather into account. The updated maps have purples which were blues but are now considered blue/black. Most difficult obstacles have a bypass. Many trails have narrow sections and trail blazing, or making your own path, is not only frowned upon by most 4x4 groups, but will get you perma-banned from the park.

Gotcha. I'm definitely interested, but I have a feeling I'll have family plans that weekend. Will keep an eye out though.

What do you guys know about the guided tours out there, I might just do that on the 27th if I can't get some people to go. Also, I'm going to be bringing my 6 year old boy with me. His first time off-road.

If there's a guided tour that day then I'd say that's your best bet considering you don't have skids or big tires.

Rausch is a lot of fun, and you can have a good time with your setup (assuming your sliders do show up in time), but rock crawling in snow is much different and can make a sketchy situation really bad in an instant.

Not saying you don't know what you're getting yourself into, but I personally would not recommend you doing anything harder than a green if there's snow on the ground.

I'll be working that weekend but hope to see you out there in the warmer weather.
