To give a parallel, someone tried to steal my dad's '84 Chevy Citation from the repair shop when it was about 9 yrs old. They didn't bother with the Camaro parked 2 cars away because odds were my dad's didn't have an alarm or other antitheft stuff

I asked the alleged victim earlier in the trial and note, he says no. I have prepared several character witnesses that the defense is interviewing as we post.

I was thinking the same thing.

1st time I read it: OP left his truck at the hotel and it was stolen cause the keys were in the room and someone broke in cause he forgot to do the dead bolt/lock it.

2nd time: you can only do the dead bolt from the inside....which means someone had to be int he room when the keys were taken unless OP crawled out the window.

I was just in a hotel...the cleaning ladies who were suppose to simply slip the receipt under the door decided to open the door instead. We were facing a busy street & kinda facing a dock and it work us up and I was DEAD tired

If his truck was stolen his truck was stolen. Maybe he left his keys somewhere else

 

Alleged victim claims to of slept through the alleged crime of entering the room and theft of said keys and items and he forgot to secure the door with optional dead bolt.

By OP's first post and knowing Vegas, that truck was cut up like a stripper in Florida within an hour.

Said sober and I specifically inquired about hookers and denial was thick.

 

Maybe he lost all his money at the casino and couldnt pay his hooker. She took truck as collateral.

Not to me. I used to travel a lot in my former job and just about everyone on our team had experienced a hotel burglary of some sort. I was lucky, but I also always deadbolt the door and never leave things in the open. My car and house were burglarized many years ago, and I've always been anal about security.
Not everyone is as careful and it just takes one mistake. Vegas is among the worst places for this kind of thing because the overabundance of cameras lulls people into a false sense of security. Don't fall for it, the security is just for the Casino owners. They don't give a rat's ass about you and your stuff. Trust me, they will let your items get stolen by their housekeeper, then toss you in the street when you have no money.
As for the cops... let's look at the numbers. 5,000 Las Vegas cops, 60,000 people attended SEMA, 14,200 Burglaries per year (2012 numbers).
There is zero chance they can keep up with everything that happens in the city. Be smart, be safe.
