is there any municipal courses on oahu? Im sure with a very large petition, overwhelming community support and the right people in office…something may happen, but theres a good chance of it being thrown out the window cause you know, theres always opponents.

Heck, almost all my life kona has been waiting for a motorsport park. they can approve colleges, neighborhoods, luxury developments and more golf courses in the area…yet more places to get off the paved path are being closed down and I'm over here clenching my butt going to the street races or trying to get that adrenaline out of my system somewhere some how.

A funny thing is, maybe two years ago, the local newspaper made light of a situation many people didn't know about. Hilo side has a municipal golf course owned by us tax payers and taking up a very large area in the town of hilo. The county was giving vouchers for west hawaii golfers so they could play at cheaper rates on private courses. One course, however, in waimea, was excluded. Now, the county has been giving vouchers to local golfers for years, yet the waimea golf course and driving range couldn't afford to keep it running because the customers couldn't afford it and the county didn't want to help golfers play a cheaper rate.
Now, I'm not a golfer, but I have friends that do. I don't see the point in it, but they don't see the point in why I wanted a high clearance bumper, or why I'm putting on these useless metal "things" or why I want better lighting.

isn't there like over 40 golf courses on oahu? in my opinion, thats way too much. takes up too much land. One race track or raceway park isn't too much to ask for. its a damn shame how campbell got shut down. I dig the guys on maui running the kart/supermoto track. id love to get something like that going on oahu.

just like the goddamn range out waikoloa side

all the rich people with timeshares are suddenly worried that it'll be "too noisy" since they moved out there to be secluded

but my favorite thing so far about that was when brian went out there with his homemade .50 cal and a decibel meter to see if they could actually potentially hear shit

Has anybody seen or heard anything prior to seeing this?
I thought there was supposed to be public hearings prior to new rules/ rule changes for state or city public areas like Kaena point.
Hopefully they post where the informational hearings are going to be held at so people can attend.

or make the meetings on different islands like they're doing to us big islanders!

im not opposed to having a shooting range either up waikoloa. its already been a range for the military before waikoloa was even built and even then they're still searching for unexploded ordinance. what makes it even more screwed up is that there is no shooting range for us, so we take it to the legal hunting areas for guns. the police on the west side can go up kohala mntn rd to their private range.

DNLR should form an organization here similar to tread lightly. Pay a yearly fee, make a pledge to stay on marked trails and leave no trace. Only let members into the off road areas, use the fees to help take care and organize events. Ask for volunteers to do beach clean ups, replant native trees and bushes, remove invasive species, mark trails, build barriers, etc.
When Chris (FMF) was here and we went to kaena, he and Britt would walk around and pick up garbage. I do that with my daughter too. We leave the area better than we found it. Fishermen would join, off roaders, environmentalists, all kinds of people. I think it would be a lot of fun and good publicity if they bring news crews out and via social media. Gotta teach the younger kids to malama aina.
I don't think there is enough to do at sand box to satisfy all of our off roading needs. If they keep shutting places down, illegal off roading will only get worse. And if successful, they could open up more regulated areas to off roading like Alan Davis side of Sandys.

And even tho tread lightly does nothing in Hawaii, I'm still a member and pay my dues. Maybe DNLR should seek advice from them and get involved with their programs.

Sick night shot I just left there a little while ago was fishing with couple friends by Alan Davis side Would have looked even nicer if you both had bumpers on and the stickers on both the trucks.

Yeah, conditions were not ideal for night shoots. Need some moon. Was pitch black out there! Catch anything? Had choke guys fishing and a few torching.
