Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Aside from fire roads and backcountry gravel roads, no. Mine is my daily driver so I need to take care of it. Although I want to buy another first gen extra cab for a wheeler maybe this spring! Modify it to my liking and use it to beat around in the woods with.

OK...Since none of the other grammar/spelling nazis have responded yet, I guess I'll have to.

I'm sure some people out there go wheeling in their trucks if they're into that kind of thing.

There there, that wasn't so difficult was it? :stirthepot:

    We got grammar too. :D

At least he punctuates correctly and knows enough to capitalize a proper noun. It's always funny when the grammar Nazi fucks up worse than the person he's correcting.

I've got an abandoned granite quarry down below my house. It's only accessible by the old mining roads. I've been down there a few times with the Tacoma to haul granite back up to the house for a fire pit. That's the extent of wheeling my taco has seen so far.

I use it and abuse it to my comfort. It is my dd and weekend toy when I allow it to be. I also only take it wheeling because I know it gets me where I want and back without a problem even when I break stuff. Plus it gives me a reason to wrench on the truck as much as possible :) but I also agree with those that have a family and provide for them first as I do the same with mine. But it also doesn't help to have a wife that loves to meet up with other Tacoma peeps and go wheeling!

I don't understand how people think that if they go offroading then it is going to completely destroy their daily driver.

My daily driver is a '81 Toyota Pickup (read: old w/ fragile parts) and I offroad it hard nearly every weekend and at offroad parks all across the state. I'm actually driving to TN on New Years for a wheeling trip. And you know what the best part is? I'll drive it to work on Jan 2nd. *knock on wood*

OP, it's okay to wheel your truck. Start off stock and find the limitations then upgrade as you go.

Pretty good statement. I wheel my DD, if it's done right you shouldn't worry about it.

Edit: you should expect trail damage, but have the necessary spare parts and know how to change it all out if need be.

Exactly. You've got to set your limitations and stick to them. If you go out there in a stock Tacoma and try to run insane rock crawler trails then you'll come home disappointed and broken. Stick to what is comfortable and as you improve as a driver your equipment will too.

Go have fun & be safe. You don't have to roll your truck down a mountain to have a good time

I have a OME lift and 32" cooper AT3s, great set up. I go on dirt roads, logging trails, sand dunes and access "roads"....

I would say this is a good starting point for off roading, a 2" - 3" lift and 32" or 33" tires and you can go through most anything... You need to upgrade the full suspension and get the cross member higher...

32 on stock wheels start to rub on the frame and control arms. 33 get close to the body mount...

    First off.. Don't wheel alone!

Secondly, don't have too much pride to not turn around or back out of the trail.

Those two rules can save anyone a lot of trouble.

This our rule with the SXS. My wife likes to venture out on her own and cruise the back roads. One night she decided to hit a mud hole on the trail and she had to walk till she had cell service, and then very poorly describe where she is. Had to get the other SXS and pull her out.

    After that, never go alone.

I drove from Arkansas to Moab this summer and stayed a week. The best part was two days on White Rim Trail. We are going back this summer and stay longer.
